I use 245/40r17 or 255/40r17 depending on the track. At Fuji, 265/35r18 seems to be faster.

here is the pic with 15 laps @ Fuji Speedway. Pace was mid 2m02sec, ambient temperature 20℃, track surface temperature 35 - 40℃. Held on till the first timed lap, and then went a sec slower thereafter...

Any idea what your tire temps were? Might be the angle, but that center rib looks pretty wasted...the rest looks good - great, actually. That's the left front, correct?

That's just how they wear, looks totally normal for that tire and a few light laps or autox days.

I'm not suggesting they were overheated - they don't look it. I'm just curious what the actual tire temps were at the tread.

And the aggressive wear on the center rib looks like an area that needs some design improvement...

Tire's been out for 4 years now, BFG Rival S 1.5 is the only thing that comes close (better for some scenarios, drivers), center rib wear is well known, not sure why you'd change it other than 'it doesn't look nice'

The center rib wears like that for a few reasons. Steering input and car balance over the front end, mainly. Since most 86's are more on the side of entry push/exit rotation, and drivers usually ask a lot of the front end, it wears like that on the front of this car. You'll notice the rears don't get a huge chamfer/taper like that.

All in all I'd say that's normal.

72～78℃. These wear like this, and so does other tires with straight center ribs. The funny bit is that I've reached the slip sign already there...

and here is my Kumho V700 K61 compound after 30min of practice and 20min of qualifying... great tire. I can still do about 8 hours of tests after the race with no issue. Initial grip peak do come in the first few laps, but the drop is not significant thereafter. You really can drive them down to the cord. K91 compound lasts for ages... hence the importer switched to K61 lol. I use both depending on the temperature.

This tire should be shaved first for any track use. I hereby also post my rear after same stints. Less than 20 laps, same situation. This tire have thick gauge with low density compound. It heats up quickly but will suffer under very high loads. I did not shave this one because I was expecting rain... and it didn't!
