I can see this being a popular setup across america...its really fucking clean

No doubt it looks clean with simple six spoke wheels. But, why do you want to put red tapes on your wheels...?

Zaku 02-07-2012 02:54 PM

yeah.... I'm considering TE37 lol but it's so expensive.

The stickers add +5hp, each. In addition, they prove the authenticity of the wheels. Try selling a set of Volks without the stickers...

That is clean as shit though. TE37 are a really timeless look IMO; almost any import looks great with them.

Has any photoshopped the Enkei RPF1 on a FR-S/86 or BRZ?

consider this, when you go to a high class party, fashion plays a huge role in your presence. Fashion sense can almost dictate how you behave and how others behave towards you. It really takes a mere few seconds for someone to size you up. Logoing, Branding, and Statements can avert ill opinions of you.

Cars can also be considered to be similar to this environment. Many say that a car is an extension of yourself.

That bright red Volks Wheel logo on the spoke is proof of your authenticity and class. Much like coach hand bags for women must have the double C in bright coloring or lettering.

Why does this matter? It may not matter for most of you. In fact the average joe does not understand this world, unless your a designer. But when you associate yourself with a group of individuals, most particularly people with money. You need to keep up with the eliteism to "fit in". When all of your friends and colleagues have expensive brand name clothing items. Do you come in with knock off brands of the same design? Not unless you want to be ridiculed and looked down upon, maybe even feel a sense of lower self worth against the crowed.

In a similar scenario, at a car meet, if everyone has TE37SLs on their vehicle with the bright red VOLK WHEEL logo on the wheel as proof of their class (basically flaunting their money). How would you feel coming in with knock offs? When your in that situation....there are a lot of thoughts and emotions..just because of that simple difference between you and them.

Volk wheels are typically not wheels average joe wants to play with. At $3000-$6000 a set with tires. But the association with volks are for people who have money..or at least connections.

This is why you would want ..or even not want..that red strip on the wheel. (Lots of psychology involved)

Thank you Dr. Wings, for that very interesting and sensible explanation. It very much is the mark of authenticity.

While I understand the authenticity benefits that come along with the red stickers, I find wheels like TE-37s, CE28Ns, etc. attractive because they have such clean and simple looks. Why put red stripes or stickers on such beautiful wheels only to degrade their innate merits? Just my personal opinion. (I personally find their "Time Attack" series wheels to be hideous.)

As far as I know, besides rich ppl, there are also young guys who cuts on their living expenses just to have the "Volk" wheels for the reasons you mentioned. At the present moment of my life, I will never be able to justify myself to spend that much money on a set of wheels because I would rather put that money into buying more seat time at the track instead of owning a set of "High-Status" wheels.

That said, I don't dislike volk wheels. In fact, I love them. They are one of the best wheels you can get for your car - light, strong, good looking, etc. But, I think you have a bigger problem to take care if you need to have a set of Volk wheels or boutique clothes to have a self-esteem high enough to go hang out with other people or living in the environment where such things are prerequisites.

Longhorn248 02-07-2012 04:47 PM

Volks are for people with money...or for people with a credit card who lack a bit of fiscal responsibility. But that can be said for a lot of things that people feel they "need" to have when in reality that item is simply a "want". I don't knock anybody for buying nice things, I just don't think you can make a sweeping generalization about someone having a lot of money just because you see them with a few nice things. The opposite can be said for people that don't have flashy nice things, doesn't mean they don't have any money.

I agree. But for me it is more important to know myself that I have the right product than to prove to others I am "in". I do not like the sticker, red sticker, and it is not needed, even without it you can know the rims a real, just like when you look at the normal TE37.

I've bought and sold them without the stickers. There are plenty of ways to make sure the wheel is real without the stickers, which you can buy accurate replicas of for a few bucks online anyways.. The stickers are, IMO, generally ugly and don't mean they are authentic at all.

True words!

I had much nicer things when I was a poor college student than I have now that I've grown up a bit. I also made sacrifices to drive the car I wanted back then (S2K)

Now I drive a 97 Civic HX to work and back just because it pays for itself in gas savings every 9 months lol. Some might call me cheap, but one day you stop caring about what other people think, and start caring about yourself and your future.
