Bought cardboard to make a rough design of rear diffuser.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...=737&h=&zoom=2

Sheet was bout 20”x28” and had to use about 2 & 1/2 sheet to cover the whole rear bumper. Had to make sure I have space for exhaust to come out.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...=737&h=&zoom=2

I don’t want to make it too low to the ground, so I made sure to get it up much as I can. Which means, I had to cut out between 2 fins.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...=737&h=&zoom=2

Now to secure the diffuser, I looked at few of other brands installation to see how they’re mounting them. Front, I’m thinking of using lower bolt of sway bar mount.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...=737&h=&zoom=2

Side, I’ll prob need to put some few rivets and Mount w the plastics. Rear, there were few options. Verus was mounting to the bracket where fins are connected and have extension bracket to connect the diffuser. Driveway Lab is just mounting to the fins. I’m pretty sure it’ll work fine, but I don’t want to put too much stress on the bumper, so I’m planning to make a long bracket to connect directly to the chassis. There are 2 screw holes where it used to mount heat shield. I’ll be using that to connect the brackets.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...=737&h=&zoom=2

As for the metal I’m using to make the rear diffuser, I’ll be using 0.63 thickness aluminum (5052-H32). Noticed that most brands are using that thickness plus quality of aluminum, so I assumed that’ll be the best thickness to go with.

Update:

Quick Perrin steering rack lockdown review. Haven't had a chance to go to local autox, but just regular driving I did feel the change. Steering feels a bit more heavy? Stiff? I have kouki electric power steering ecu, so it's lighter than zenki. Now, it feels like it's back to zenki steering weight feel to it. In return how's the driving? It response faster, but is it a night and day difference? Not really. Worth <$90 mod? Def!
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...2.jpg?w=700&h=

Diode Dynamics was having a sale, so got myself few bulbs. Side park lights, front turn sig and door lights. I already have turn & door lights... but they're not bright as I like, so I went with brighter ones. As for the side park lights, I just bought simple cheap ones. Don't feel need to buy brightest one.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...3.jpg?w=700&h=

Riveting tool came~ I'll be using M6 bolts. I was thinking of using M4 or smaller... but didn't want too small, so decided to go with M6.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr...1.jpg?w=700&h=

As for the rear diffuser, I'm still waiting for the aluminum sheet to come in. It's taken a lot longer than I've expected... so bought extra tools at Harbor Freight to get started on other hobbies.

TRD have this cool rear aero stabilizer.
https://bcklanime.files.wordpress.co...151240503.jpeg

But... they're not cheap. They're around $175~$250 (depends on where you buy it). SuperTom made an alternative option. Using universal fender rubber cover.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr....jpg?w=1000&h=

It's kinda hard to see it, but it's not that thick.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr....jpg?w=1000&h=

Got 1.5m long, so had to cut it to the length that I need.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr....jpg?w=1000&h=

Here's how it looks after installing them.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr....jpg?w=1000&h=

Of course, it's not perfect looking. If you look closly, you can see the cut line at the edge.

Finally one of the thing I've ordered have came, so was able to start doing FXT water/oil cooler.

I read a lot of thread which way to do the water/oil cooler. I decided to go with TB route. Overall it wasn't hard to install. Biggest struggle was looping the hose under the AC took a bit of work and putting the clamp on the TB side.
https://ichitakaproject.files.wordpr....jpg?w=1000&h=

I also took this chance to install Perrin intake pipe. Don't like having bling looking under the hood, so kept it black. Overall it still look like OEM.

Nice. I had my tubing looped at the gap between the accessory belt and the compressor - routing it behind was causing the tube to kink. Had to secure the hose to the block that it wouldn't contact the belt, but the installation was far easier that way with no sharp bends.

I used elbow connector, so don't have weird kink there.

Update.

Several months ago, some idiot hit my front bumper & damaged it. Did a lot of debate between aftermarket bumper & stock bumper, decided to go with just fix the current front bumper. Plus few other things getting painted.

Update:

After not having my car for almost 2 months, finally got it back... but sadly, they didn’t do a great job painting. Hoping to do some good photo shoot this weekend or so to show my current look. But for now, enjoy my ejecto seato! Lol

Time to take your painter/body shop guy for a ride then? :D

ichitaka05 05-13-2021 07:54 PM

Went to the shop to get few things done.

TOB whistling even in the cold temp, thought it’s a time to replace it. While replacing the TOB upgrade the clutch fork & pivot with Verus Engineering. Bob from Drift Office alway said to replace bearing retainer too, so got those as well.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1a6f30cf8c.jpg

Got it back next day. Bearing retainer looked decent. The the greatest, but didn’t look too bad.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9fbd500036.jpg

Same goes for Pivot. A bit dusty from the clutch, but still better than expected.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...040ed9f085.jpg

Clutch fork & TOB was pretty good. No extreme wear. TOB spin smoothly.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f1a281cfd2.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...aafc3704f0.jpg

2nd thing I’ve done is I’ve finally tinted my windows. Front got tinted to 50%. State limit is 45%. 50%~55% visually looked good and still able to see outside in the night, so went w it.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...27d2193f4a.jpg

Back is 35%. Shop recommended 25%, but it looked WAY dark, so upped 10%.

Everything looked good. Hoping to test this setup on Autox next month.

Haha thanks! It’s my wife’s WRX

She love to mod her car equally as me PLUS track as well. Last week, she went on amateur track day.

Yes, yes indeed… sadly last Dec I’ve traded my car.

So let me give some last updates that never posted. To start off, here are few photos

Some might wonder what happened to my park lights on the front bumper. I’ve asked to delete it & put BMW (F90?) LED on it.

It’s smoked, so daytime can hardly see it.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bfd402b457.jpg

When it’s dark, it look like this.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...56e4bd2486.jpg

It really helps cuz it doesn’t pop off like stock one lol & FYI, it looks like new Gen GR86/BRZ park lights, but I had it first! K, I lie, I seen the prototype way before anyone & thought it’s a great idea & applied on my BRZ.

Here’s closer photos. Light off
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9bf2f1c46d.jpg

Lights on
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...769e9856b7.jpg

Next is the wheels info. They’re custom made wheels. Due to Covid, took FOREVER to get it delivered from China!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c18d5aacb8.jpg

Specs are 17x8+35. I wanna say it’s one of its kind… but it’s not. It’s close to Advan tc4, but it comes in 5-100 (Advan doesn’t make tc4 in 17x8+35 in 5-100). & no, I do not need wheel hub bearing cuz hub size is measured exactly as stock spec.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...de353e1944.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1c26da4b15.jpg

1 con I have is, wheels aren’t THAT light. iirc it weighted fraction more than my old Weds TC105N (17x9+35).

Is that mean I don’t like em? Oh I LOVE EM! Even I’ve traded my BRZ, I kept these wheels! It’s hands down my fav wheels on 86/BRZ! Wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 (225/45/17), it can grip & drift w ease! I would highly recommend this setup!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...be8c429cf4.jpg

…so traded my BRZ for what? 2022 Toyota Highlander XSE
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fbb274bb5c.jpg

We needed family hauler. Yes, WRX can haul baby as well, but I felt bad making my wife do ALL the family & baby travel. My BRZ was swapped w Bride seats, so it was almost impossible to put baby seat on the back.

Of course HL doesn’t stay stock. Already did few aftermarket stuff
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fcb16bc77b.jpg

When used market go back to down, I’m planning to buy TRD86… until then, I’ll be hauling the baby or when the baby is old enough to cram it in the 86/BRZ backseat, I’ll buy it as a 2nd car lol
