FWIW I have called about 20 of the nearest Subaru dealers in the Bay Area over the last 3 weeks or so. Oddly enough Colma Subaru didn't come up in my search though. For the most part the outcome is either 1) they sold at MSRP and are now sold out for all 2012 allocations, or 2) they are marking up between $1K - $5K. At this point I think my best bets are in Reno, NV or Colorado Springs. Both are taking orders at MSRP and do not seem to have long waitlists. But like Blaine said, do your own research, I might be lying to you just to get a car sooner than you. Yeah, give up now and get a Gen Coupe or 370Z. :D

BlaineWasHere 07-02-2012 11:17 PM

I called like a zillion dealers to find my FR-S, oddly enough I found it only 10 miles from home!!! I had to make a list of Scion/Subaru dealers so I could remember all the places to get my deposits back from.

Norkoastal 07-03-2012 02:54 AM

Good info guys... What hassle would we have buying out of state? Additional tax, doc fees? This is my first new car purchase, so obviously this is hilarious to be on the hunt for the golden goose along with a few hundred like minded folks... The elusive dark blue manual BRZ/FRS will be mine!!!! :burnrubber:

Fly Guy 07-03-2012 07:13 AM

I know that you would still be taxed at the California tax rate of where you live. Doc fee might be different.

Norcalscionchamp 07-04-2012 08:32 PM

Some states have a reciprocity agreement where you pay the tax in one state and it counts towards the other states taxes

But yes in CA you will pay the tax rate of the city in which you reside regardless of where you purchase

Hot Lava M/T with nothing but the trunk carpet in Folsom... ($25,025).

Posting this up so somebody goes and buys it and I don't have to.

well, I officially gave up on the California Subaru dealers today and took my business elsewhere... placed an order at the Subaru dealership in Colorado Springs, CO. This is the largest volume Subie dealer in America, and they are taking orders and selling BRZs at BELOW MSRP. No joke. So even with the cost of shipping this car to CA I am saving money over what most of the NorCal Subie dealers are gouging for.

As of today this dealership in CO still have a SWP Limited 6MT with Pkg 1A and spoiler that is unsold and due to hit their lot later this week. I almost bought it but decided to wait and get a WRB Premium instead, so I've placed my order with them. I have been working with Karen in their Internet sales dept. and she has been awesome so far answering all my questions.

Went to Geweke Toyota in Lodi today (2hr drive from S.F.) and almost bought an MT Firestorm FR-S. Went on a test drive (already had 80 miles on it) and decided to buy it at MSRP. Got through a bunch of paperwork and about to finish up with the finance guy when the salesman tells me the car was damaged and repaired. He tells me the hood and grill were replaced, but would not give me specifics on how the damage occurred. Then he tells me they can't lower the price due to Scion's Pure Pricing policy (not that I would've bought it anyway). Unbelievable. 2 hour drive and was just about to sign the finance papers. Sad thing is, they'll do this dance over and over until some poor, desperate kid buys it. Anyway, at least I got a test drive out of it.

Kinda late here but some lady bought that car. She bought it a few days after I test drove it. Went back to put a deposit down on a whiteout, went outside to go look at it again and she came over and told me stay away because it's her. She kept staring at me and my friend for looking at it. Oh well, I had fun in it. Redline fun.

boonFRS 07-18-2012 09:37 PM

Btw there is a Raven 6mt in vacaville for 25k and a firestorm 6mt in roseville for 25k also.

I figured some idiot would buy it. How many miles on the odometer when you test drove it?

I don't remember, I think it was a little over 25 miles. I was thinking WTH, why so many miles on a brand new car. Then they told me that it was in a accident.

No, had to be 125. It already had 80 when I drove it 3 weeks ago.

boonFRS 07-18-2012 10:45 PM

It probably was then, I remember seeing it somewhere in the 20's.

Norkoastal 07-18-2012 11:42 PM

No problem... that link I posted, lists what they are offering the car at. But I'll throw it out here because it will likely change or be removed when they sell that car.

MSRP on the SWP BRZ Premium 6MT + Pop 1A + spoiler = $27255. Their internet price is $26655, + $389 dealer handling fee. You will have to add taxes and any license fees on top of that (no avoiding that). So it's about $211 below MSRP before tax.

They told me they will honor that price for any car ordered as well, for instance if you want a barebones BRZ no packages or options. $600 off the MSRP then add the other fees.

Just picked up a white limited 6MT from Lithia Subaru in Reno for 500 under MSRP. No haggle, no problems. Great people to work with! PMok, thanks for the heads-up. The one with the diffuser sold, and I got the one after that, which was great, b/c I didn't want the diffuser.

PMok 07-21-2012 01:03 PM

awesome, congrats! :)

I guess that could have been my car, except I kept changing my mind on color, options, etc.... went from wanting exactly your car, to a WRB Premium 6MT. :iono:

CliffG 07-22-2012 09:00 PM

As of 5:30 p.m. today, July 22 Marin Toyota says they have mt red available to be checked out "by appointment only." I assume latter is jive but have no idea.

Check Capitol Toyota in south San Jose. They had a manual FR-S this morning but I didn't ask about the color since I'm looking for a white automatic.

boonFRS 07-24-2012 12:55 PM

The sales mgr at Capitol told me that all the FRS that they are getting in are just for pre-orders. There's a asphalt 6MT in Modesto right now

TZL 07-24-2012 02:24 PM

Our district Rep just brought us a 2013 Subaru BRZ to display on our showroom floor. It will be here for a week then it will be gone.

If you haven't already seen it, come by if you have a moment.

Oh cool! You probably remember my girlfriend and I stopping by a couple weekends ago in the red MR2. I'll be in the neighborhood again this weekend - we'll come check it out.
edit- Did you guys get a premium in? I need to see those seats. We sat in an STI and I think I like the material better in the base BRZ.

kyolml 07-25-2012 01:52 AM

I just turned down the WRB Premium manual at Capitol Subaru I ordered. No options. Ask for Ryan who ordered the car and he will hit you up. If you buy it just thank me here:thumbup:

I called about your car, and the sales guy said that any declined orders go to waiting list people first and not new customers.

uni 07-27-2012 01:43 AM

There is a silver AT BRZ limited available at Elk Grove Subaru (no options). I had preordered it, but I couldn't wait for it and ended up purchasing a FRS a couple months ago. Was told the BRZ arrived today- I turned it down- so now its up for grabs! Good luck!

LOL I got the same call today from someone at Elk Grove. He said the silver was available, but at a marked up price - they want more than MSRP. when I told him I had preordered elsewhere he gave me an extended spiel about how it was in demand and either waiting 2 years or paying a markup was a fact of life. :bs:

boonFRS 07-28-2012 01:35 PM

I have an ETA of 7/31 at a local dealership so I'll let you guys know if they get more than 1 in.
