@MemphisR it looks awesome!!! what did you use to make it? was it wood and how thick and did you paint it or wrap it in the carpet stuff or did you what did you use to secure it to the headliner?

I'm so exited about this, I can't wait to find a junk yard that has one of these to just pull out for cheap.

Thanks! I used a thin partical board, not sure how thick it was, 1/8"?

As for wrapping, I bought some nice, fake, but nice faux Alcantara. I plan on wrapping more, so thus my use of it on the brake light. I also used that to wrap my rear deck and cover the holes of the old brake light.

I mounted/centered it using the three clips at the back of the headliner and some double sided tape to fix it to the rear window.

Hope this helps,
MemphisR

So the brake light will flash every time you change gear?

How simple would it be if you attached one of those l.e.d.s-on-tape strips across the top of the window? It could possibly have a 30mm strip of black plastic stuck on the underside OR be tucked just inside the roof lining for neatness and from inside you wouldn't see it when lit up.
Patent pending

I guess you are right come to think of it . I didn't see that mentioned in the article. It would soon bother the driver behind. Maybe it assumed auto-transmissions. Maybe, just changing gears, you don't come off the gas pedal suddenly as you would when emergency braking.

You could try that. I just wanted to design something that looked and functioned like a factory part, and the STS brake light has individual lenses for each led. I was also concerned about light bleeding through. But by all means, give it a go your way and let us know. My method was a bit tedious, so if you your way works better, there are Cleary many people that would be interested. 🙋

I'm actually ok with what I have. I removed the "space ship" as it effectively obscured the view to a height of about 120mm due to reflection in the glass. I took out the lights module, covered it with black felt and pushed it in at the base of the window. It does not reflect in the glass and only obscures about 30mm by 195mm of the view. The back shelf is covered with black felt to cover where the spaceship was. The original wiring goes through a tiny hole in the felt.

Adding my rendition of this. I liked aspects from @fatherfork and @MemphisR's builds, so I combined them to make mine.

Testing the bar. The bar is 33 inches, apparently this model is discontinued and I bought the last one from superbrightled.

Mocked the bar up with tape.

Getting the enclosure built.

Used gloss black vinyl on the top and wrapped black felt on the bottom.

Wrapped the rear deck in black velvet. Its a thinner fabric, so it still shows the holes for the original brake light and child seat cutouts a little bit. I used foam in the holes, but it still didn't come out exactly how I would have liked, I may re-do it in the future if I get annoyed with it.

Felt buttoned up to the headlinder.

Windows are tinted with 30%

The final assembly weighs 0.81 pounds, and I removed 1.10 pounds with everything taken off the rear deck.

I don't think there is a kit. I just used a sheet of craft foam and cut it to the shape of the brake light holes. It was even the same material as the one made buy a member of the forum

I was interested in sound deadening in the doors. Found an Australian company that makes precut sections for $250+ per kit. Found sheets online, spent malicious time doing one door, spent a fourth of a time dong the next. I considered taking those patterns and offering a package myself.

Def agree. Lmk if you decide to offer that. If I wanted to buy that ft86speedfactory product, think you could help me out with that filler piece? Message me.
