Mine is A00C as well, so it'll be of no use even when i can pull it.

Well, it will be of use to you ;)

Anybody on here willing to help out in doing some XML conversion from the RR definition, to Ecuflash XML format? Creating Ecuflash definitions alongside the RR definitions then becomes trivial - but I'd rather focus on the disassembly of newer roms now in terms of prioritizing work.

OpenPort 2.0 ordered in anticipation of this.
Top marks to the Tactrix guys. Ordered on Thursday afternoon, delivered here in Australia on Monday morning for a mere $25 shipping fee.

I PMd him. As soon as I get a copy and get it installed, I will pull the rom off my car and post it up if its a diff calibration. Also, I can test any logging parameters you have defined so far, and will be using the beta ECUflash to flash older cars to regression test the old functionality.

Also, I can look at the XML stuff between the definitions for the ECUflash / RR. I am not a huge fan of xml but if the format is easy to follow I could probably help with that work as well.

Td-d 10-28-2013 01:28 PM

Logging capability is not yet enabled - when Colby comes back from his wedding, I'm sure he'll push on that ;)

The XML conversion is not complicated, but a ballache since it's very time consuming.

SkullWorks 10-28-2013 01:31 PM

I pm'd him friday with no response still...

I figured as much, I just dont like looking at XML code for long as it gives me a headache. All the markup tags drive me nuts. But I am a C++ dev which is probably why I am not a fan of the markup languages =P

The beta isnt exactly an open beta.... The guys that are getting it now have software development experience, which can be useful for debugging / development. So if you are just a regular guy looking to get it, that may be why you havent heard back from him. If this isnt the case, then maybe shoot him another pm letting him know how you can be helpful to the beta.

Also,

I got a response from him in 15 minutes, so hes there.

can't believe you're not using xerces or libxml. :)

Because I dont work with xml very often. When I do, its used as inputs to a modeling / simulation system, so that files are built by hand anyways.

I do mostly desktop development, so I have little need for xml. But when I do, I use notepad++. It does what I need it too. I just dont like how XML as CODE looks.

He just missed my PM in the flurry of PM's, He was kind enough to get me the software today.

I've successfully gotten brzedit off of there and flashed my new base map onto the car. I guess that makes it the first FI open source tuned car. Base map is way rough but I'll improve it over the coming weeks. Everything works awesome :)

I would be very much interested in taking a look at your base map if you are willing to share.

I'm interested in comparing the stock and tuned map.

That's awesome, congrats! I can't wait to see the maps!

Nice, I am highly interested in taking a peek as well.

Excellent.

I will post my tunes as well. When the beta goes open, start a flash discussion thread.

Not this cat, There are only two stock roms floating around right now though.

After the beta is complete and it goes live, im sure we will see an influx of all kinds from amature to professional tuned roms.

endrswrd 10-29-2013 09:09 AM

I uploaded a new rom on the RR forums, but I believe its an older rom. ZA1J700C.

Anyways, the beta is working for me so far, Also got to try out the available OS (OFT) roms on both a stage 1 and stage 2 car. Its a definite improvement. I am going to start tweaking it over the weekend on my car as there are already things I have seen that can be improved upon but I need to wait to logging is available to start working on it.

could it be something simple as github or public googdrive/dropbox?

sorry if i missed it, are there logger/cars beta definition files?

Td-d 10-29-2013 12:06 PM

Why not just use the existing stock rom repository thread on the Romraider forum?

Ah, I see.

Why not create a similar thread here, and allow the uploading of roms (vetted by the mods)? Make sure to create some tight, published rules regarding commercial roms on there though.

endrswrd 10-29-2013 12:58 PM

As soon as I can get my hands on a FI brz, ill be trying to mod the stock rom to support FI. Its pretty straightforward for the S/C guys, but for Turbo guys I would like to port in Turbo subaru EBCS logic / WG / Turbo dynamics and associated boost cuts and overboost protection.

From there I am sure somebody will start working on an SD turbo rom for high powered applications.

If you are near dayton ohio and would like to support OS tuning, Pm me!

Did you have to pad the first 8000 bytes with zeroes?

nope.. just flashed the stock brzedit rom on, pulled it off with ecuflash, modified it, and flashed it back on.

Td-d 10-29-2013 03:49 PM

And you got a full 1.25mb, immediately readable rom in RR? I assume you pulled the rom as hex, not srf, right?

The reason I ask is that I have now seen two cases where the SRF file has been pulled, and the first 8000 bytes is not there, has to be padded in.

brn12345 10-29-2013 04:13 PM

Excuse the ignorance but how can I set ECUflash to pull hex and not srf? There doesn't seem to be an option to do that. I am one of those two cases :)

Td-d 10-29-2013 06:03 PM

Well, it's not so much pull it, as save it as hex, as opposed to srf (if you click on the file type option when saving, you will see there is another one).

I'm just curious as to why some seem to have the rom pulled with the first 8000 bytes correctly offset, whilst others not.

jamesm 10-29-2013 08:07 PM

When I pulled after flashing the brzedit stock rom on I got the whole thing, modified it and flashed it back on. I can send you the rom if you wanna see it

ztan 10-30-2013 04:24 PM

beta pulls the ROM on my Australian delivered GT86.
PM me if you want the ZA1JA01G file.
First 8000 not read and padded.
I'm also curious as to why some pull the whole ROM and some omit the first 8000.

calispec 10-30-2013 09:13 PM

Sorry for the n00b question but I am not very familiar with CANBUS systems. I know our car has it and I know how to find the wires but I have no clue how to decipher the raw data. Right now I just want the key fob functions to work while the car is started but I know there are much more powerful things it can do such as steering angle yaw rate......... Will this cable and all the help from the people on RR unlock some of this potential or should I just give up on my hopes and dreams??

This has nothing at all to do with what you're talking about. Completely different pieces of hardware control those things. This is only for reading and writing ecu roms.

SkullWorks 10-31-2013 12:54 AM

holy smokes batman how many copies of ftd2xx.dll does ECUflash need to have to open?

I searched and found copies installed in subfolders of ECUFlash...so i figured that wasn't my issue...gave up put a copy in the root of ecuflash...hey it works...AHHH i feel stupid..../rant.

Please PM me the rom - would like to compare with the already posted on RR and fill out the definition that I started with.
