- Ugh the VIP program requires you have membership for over 6 months before we can use it =/. ?

You don't have to buy it right off the bat. There's a link I posted that you just pay $20 for a year.

Keep up with this thread as I update it whenever I get more info. If you have questions that haven't been answered I can attempt to answer. Lol Other than that.. the first post of this thread has the latest update. :>

Lol I think the major thing that's really needed is the US trims and the price point -_-; Sigh... come on ... January? No idea, but hmmm I wonder if an extended warranty would be a good idea for a first model car? Wonder if the dealer would consider that a freebie or will most people here just tear into it?

Giccin 12-15-2011 02:36 AM

Hmm... I wonder if I can push Frank or another dealer for 100k miles warranty. :o

Please be absolutely sure that you'll be an initial buyer. ;p The more we get.. the better deals I can try to push for.

Added your name to the list btw. :)

I wasn't aware you were making a list. Please put me down in the "for sure" category.

ucla bruin 12-16-2011 07:17 PM

Interested. Are we looking at mid 2012 still? Will we able to pick and choose colors and options?

Thanks for putting it together.

Around there.

You can pick Color and your options, but you have to remember.. added options will increase cost. But for the base (premium model without addons) (according to Frank) will be $300 above invoice. I need to call him again and ask him a few more questions. Such as.. if trade-ins work... if the price includes tax, what can he do for everyone who's in the group buy (such as ext. warrenty or something..) and FOR SURE if the Subaru VIP program applies to this car (some people have noted that it may or maynot work for the BRZ since its a new car).

I'll put together a list of questions of what I'll ask in the very first post of this thread. Should be up by either late tonight or early morning.

ucla bruin 12-16-2011 07:26 PM

Thanks Giccin. It'd be cool if they ever have a BRZ/FR-S track day :burnrubber:

Buggy51 12-20-2011 11:59 PM

Hello Giccin, any info on the update? If not, I do wish you a nice winter break lol. Congrats, you're done with finals!

I've been celebrating the end of Fall. Lol

:P Fear not. I will harass. :D

What questions do you guys want to ask?

- Do you take trade ins?
- Does the Subaru VIP Program include the BRZ?
- Will it pay off current lease with 6 months remaining?

Any other questions?

I'm heading to Irvine Subaru tomorrow around.. 11ish.

I'll repeat the questions I asked to Frank and any other possible ones I can think of at the time. :P

Let me know how it goes. Hopefully you talked to the GM and got her to set something up.

Just got back. Updating everything now.

Forgot to ask a few questions but I'll give her a heads up later today.

Update: From Irvine Subaru 12/22/11

Desiree Farey
Cell: (714)342-9920
Work Phone: (949) 837-3500 Ext: 100
E-mail: desiree@irvinesubaru.com

- Do you take/uphold the Subaru VIP program for the BRZ specifically?
: Yes, but ONLY on orders. (Meaning you call in and tell her what you want for your BRZ Limted or Premium.)
- Do you take Trade-ins?
: Yes.
- Do you take Deposits?
: Unfortunately, not until Subaru corporate actually puts it in the system so you can order it. (I went and took a look at her screen. The BRZ wasn't on as a pre-order yet. When the BRZ does come out you can call and place your order over the phone. Without a deposit(?) I need to call her again for a couple more questions tomorrow or so... Or later today)
- What can you do for our group buy?
: Basically what R4m3n said. Match Puente Hills deal. $300 above Invoice. (I need to call and confirm it. It slipped my mind whether I heard MSRP or Invoice.)
- Will Subaru Pay off my 6mo Lease?*
: No dealer will pay off the lease. But will take it as a trade-in depending on value of the car at the time. (You'll have to give her a call to ask for more info or a much more in depth info.)

r4m3n 12-22-2011 02:49 PM

Thanks Giccin!

Hmm... from the sounds of it, I may stick with Frank over at PH then if the deal is the same. He seemed more willing to deal and overall a very friendly guy to talk to.

Buggy51 12-22-2011 09:18 PM

So all in all... the VIP program would be a better deal than the group buy? With well... even less haggling? @_@

For those who don't have the 6 months its a great deal. It's the same and better with the VIP program. lol

Ah gotcha lol. Well I signed up during September, so I can hopefully use the VIP program. Just gotta figure out from where now. Still hoping group buy can nudge price lower lol.

You can.

But dunno if the price will be substantially lower than Nor Cal though.

Very true. At this moment, its more of an impatient tap and wondering if any pricing information is released.

Toofast4Yourazz 12-24-2011 05:22 PM

I am interested in this group buy... I haven't donated to get the VIP program yet, can you ask the dealer if thats needed or can he give the same deal with or without it?...

Thanks Detective Momo! :happy0180: If 300 above invoice is indeed true, that is a good deal. Keep in mind that there are invoice prices for both the car and the options! Hopefully they won't have a dealer mark up on this thing.

stlgrym3 12-25-2011 12:15 PM

do you need to become Subaru VIP in order to get that 300 over invoice price?

No, just be part of the group buy effort.

I wonder if this is decision made at the local dealer level, or if one dealership honors it, then others must do the same.

I will be eligible when the car is released, but my local dealer in FL thought that the decision on the VIP program was made at a corporate level.

Interesting.....

So 300 over invoice is the deal they offered so far, but with the VIP shouldn't we get 2% under invoice plus any possible throw ins after that?

Honoring the Subaru VIP program? It's up to the dealer to honor that program. If the dealer says otherwise.... Then it just seems like they don't want to honor the VIP program. :(

Nope! Like buggy said you can be part of the group buy for the $300 above invoice. From the way I see it--it seems like it works best for those who are going to buy it right away or are unsure if they want to buy the BRZ yet until the month before.

1. Donate $20 and wait 6 months to get 2% under what dealer gets the car for.
2. Don't donate $20 and buy within the month of the group buy or 2nd month of the group buy (meaning all finances are set) to get $300 above invoice with whatever you want.

I hope that cleared it up your question.

Doin' my best to help the interests of those who will be reviving the slowly diminishing car culture. (Really not interested in this.. HELLAFLUSH stuff. I admire those who are really enthusiastic about it but I'm just not a fan.)

Lets say you get the BRZ with the options you want. You'll pay 2% under dealer invoice for your vehicle. That is... what I believe is correct. I can go clarify it for you if you like.

Mike 12-28-2011 03:51 AM

Please put me under 'initial buyer's for the "right-off-the-bat"'

Stigmaru 12-28-2011 04:39 AM

I go to Puente Hills Subaru all the time. I don't know what it means to be an outlet. They look like any other Subaru dealership to me. They are extremely convenient though as they are right off the 60fwy. Alot of WRX and STis in the area have maintenance work done by them. Do they really benefit that much from a group buy? Shouldn't anyone be able to haggle it to $300 above invoice?

They benefit from the fact that the community as a whole will recognize that THEY are the dealer that facilitated the group buy, building good will.

Additionally, initial buyers in the group buy are likely to turn in good surveys, which are extremely important to the dealer ;)

silversurfer 12-30-2011 03:26 PM

Put me down as a potential buyer for the first release.

Toofast4Yourazz 01-01-2012 11:24 AM

Put me down for a potential buyer for the first gen group buy. I'll be a confirmed buyer if they throw in/ give a great deal on the bonuses, I.e extended warranty, services, etc.). On that subject, it wouldn't be dealer specific for the service package for example, right ? Because I live in nor cal and would like to go to my local for maitanence.

You should be able to go anywhere for your local maintenance. Just the purchase will be made in SoCal.
