3800lbs? Yeesh, get a 1LE Camaro or new Mustang GT. Both will eat the Bimmer for breakfast around a track. Hope you're leasing the Bimmer.

meh... never been a fan of American cars, the only american car i would buy is a the boss 302 but I rarely track my car, so track performance is irrelevant. I look more for the overall package: practicality, refinement, handling, ride quality at the same time with a 8300 redline v8.

btw for the sake of argument
E9x m3 curb weight:
Coupe: 1,580 kg (3,483 lb)
Saloon: 1,605 kg (3,538 lb)

I think 3800 is the convertible, IIRC.

Have both cars right now and track both. One thing the frs is a lot easier and cheaper to prep for track. The 335 will need a better upgraded oil cooler if you're in hot climates. Pads are really expensive and well you need good ones to stop all that weight. The 335i has a lot more power than the frs, no LSD which is good for track and the weight balance isn't ideal. The suspension of the 335i while is good, is not ideal for track. Now the frs I've tracked completely stock and it was a lot of fun, can't say the same about the 335, and btw I have a 335is which is a bit more suited for track.

3538 lbs could be dry mass.

I think it could also be a stripped down base model w/ no options.

Probably without idrive/M-DCT and etc.

M-DCT alone will weight 60 lbs more than 6MT counter part

I have both cars and other high end BMW for years. Previously sold my f10 m5.

If you want something ready to go, get BMW with warranty. Past that it will be a headache to fix when things go wrong.

If you're into moddifing and having more driver feedback from your car then I would get a brz/ frs. There's so much you can do to this car that it doesn't get boring.

As far as comparing an e90 m3 with dct and brz... They're two totally different cars.

I agree with what you said @h4nh.

We also have tuned both BMW 335 N54 and FRS/BRZ with great extensive knowledge for the car so if any want advice on both we can certainly provide some great suggestions for you.

Used BMW 335i is right in the price range of a FRS/BRZ so comparison is natural. 335i and FRS/BRZ is quite different.

BMW 335i are dime a dozen and I would suggest if you are buying a used one just test drive it and see how you like it. If you want easy power 335i is a very easy way to go. FRS/BRZ on the other hand doesn't have any power. It lacks power actually, but everything else is very awesome. Chassis and feel on a FRS/BRZ is going to be more immediate and more fun if you are taking turns and hitting the apex. 335i n54 can be brutally fast when setup right!! Most the time people buy 335i have the ability to afford the car but they don't change/repair/replace the common faulty parts. Once those common parts ie, injectors, sparkplugs, coils, and fuel pumps are replaced the car is a ton of joy to drive.

FRS/BRZ easily makes less then half of what a tune 335i can make but the driving feel is totally different. If a FRS/BRZ has mid 3xx to 400whp it would be an absolutely monster. :D

Cheers.
