I agree completely.
You can get a Sikky (or a few others) LS1 swap kit for a 240sx for under $2k. (engine and trans mounts, oil pan, driveshaft,) Sikky is $1750.
Weapons Grade offers the identical parts + brake master cylinder for $3750. I know that master cylinder isn't worth $2k. :)
You can actually buy parts for the 240sx LS1 swap a-la-carte from Enjuku and get them for less (mounts for $300, Oil Pan for $400, DS for $300, headers $600, power steering kit for $300, BMC for $250, and converted wire harness for $600 = Grand total of $2750)
Now for the BRZ/FRS:
I know the world revolves around supply and demand.. so as other companies get into the game they will certainly drive down prices. I would expect WGP to charge a bit of a premium to start because they have put so much R&D into it. But I think double the price of a base install kit is a little high.
The big part of a full swap kit would have to be the electrical (wiring/ecu stuff) to make sure everythings works properly.. that's certainly the hard part.. and can certainly be expensive.. So i'm sure this is going to keep the prices high for a while. At least until some pioneering forum member does it all from scratch (successfully) and shares the results.
*note.. I'm not saying I would do an LS1 swap or that I think it's the best option for this car.. just commenting on the costs vs. other platforms to see what is a reasonable price for swap kits.

I'm glad you can buy 1JZ/2JZ mounts for the BRZ/FRS for $300 from Xcessive, the stock oil pan just works so you don't need to waste money on a swap pan, aftermarket downpipes clear the crossmember just fine, so if you can come up with a trans mount (hopefully XM or another manufacturer steps up to the plate with this one), and if you can order a driveshaft (I'm sure someone will figure out the length and start selling it off the shelf, probably DSS), you're home free.
you're right, hopefully someone will go through the trouble of figuring out how to piggyback the stock ECU to keep steering assist, gauges, etc, because swaps could get a LOT cheaper than $9k in the near future.
