Just came back from KenShaw & dealt with Tom. I put a 1000$ deposit down, and then Tom took me to the Finance office, where they told me to sign a contract (Bill of Sales). I told the person working in Fiance I would not sign a bill of sales without seeing and test driving the car.
I then went to Kenny Shaws office, where I sat for half an hour, waiting for him. Tom then comes in and tells me he can't do anything. Kenny would not even see me in person. RIDICULOUS. Then I went myself and talked to kenny and he refused. I suggest every1 avoid Kenshaw. This was my only weekend back from Ottawa until next month. Really wanted to put a deposit down... Edit: So are we going with Jason? I am only in Toronto for this long weekend, so only have basically monday to put a deposit down. |

Heero,
Isn't it possible to make a deposit electronically or over the phone? I don't think anyone in this thread is has put down a deposit yet. I think it might be best to sit tight and hold onto your deposit for now. |

& My family is out of country until the end of April due to a death in the family. I guess I can hold off until we finalize. |

No credit card might be a bit of an issue though! Off topic: I would recommend getting a credit card even if you only use it once a month for 1 purchase and to pay it off. It will help you build credit. |
I got a bill of sale, but it had provision "subject to price and test drive approval"... I didn't find it odd at all.

Just saw this. While this is Subaru and US, according to the thread these paybacks to the dealer you see here are near-universal - so invoice pricing is actually about $1.2k above dealer cost. Something to keep in mind for our group buy. Car companies are finding ways like the "market assistance" payment to bury dealer profits outside of the invoice price as everyone can get invoice information these days.

Great idea for sales contract
I was reminded of this again by the following post from elsewhere on FT86:

I would like to explain what happened here. We are more than willing to take this pre order but with out a signed bill of sale( which was subject to test drive) it's hard to hold a car. Tom Vu is one of our toyota salesmen that is trying to help out with scion. I would ask you guy to ask me directly for any help with pre ordering. With the high demand on this car no bill of sale is not an option, the bill of sale holds us the dealer to providing you with the car as promised. Nothing else. I'm more than willing to work with everyone here on a discounted rate for preorders as a group. Anyone that has been around racing in Toronto knows me and would verify that I'm a honest guy. If you want pm me and we will talk. I have nothing to hide and will be more than helpful. My email is Kenny.shaw@kenshawscion.ca and phone # is 416 766 1155 ext 107. |
not sure if i'm missing something here, but is there a reason why there's been no discussion regarding a GTA/Southern Ontario BRZ group buy? just wondering...
