I just bought a 2013 FR-S and didn't really care about what radio it had in it. I actually told the salesman I didn't want the Bespoke or whatever the top of the line radio was (900 bucks is a bit much for a radio IMHO). The build date on my car is 6/2013. The radio is not the base but the next one up. It has a touchscreen and is pretty cool. The manuals that came with the car all say 2013 except the radio manual - it says 2014. I think it was $300 something extra.

Knee pads? My Knee actually hits the front of the console where it goes up. Where are these pads located?

The touchscreen is actually the top HU. Bespoke is an $800-$900 add-on module for the touchscreen to get Navi, etc. The old Bespoke was an upgrade HU for the original HU which makes that Bespoke the middle tier under the new touchscreen.
