A rare car like the BRZ means they can't part it out because parts won't be needed as much. And they can't sell the car because it'll stand out. Park a Ferrari and a Civic in a bad neighborhood and you'll get slashed tires on the Ferrari, but the Civic won't be there in the morning.

I disagree, at least in the case of Hondas.
The ITR has lower numbers during it's entire 4 year US run than the BRZ will have in it's first 7 months, yet percentage wise, it's probably the most stolen honda ever (percentage wise meaning the number of cars produced compared to the number with stolen info on carfax/autocheck).
The key is whether or not the PARTS can be used elsewhere and of course whether or not people consider them an improvement.. that's probably where we will benefit as most Subaru people don't want a 200HP NA engine :)
