My dealer called me yesterday to confirm my "order"... I asked him what was the basic stuff included in the Premium and he told me that in Canada, Premium does NOT include navigation. That's alright with me if it can lower the price down.

Nope, $26k bro!

That's my limit too. If it's close to going over 30k, I'm definitely test driving it first. And if it doesn't knock my socks off, I'm going somewhere else. This is going to be a great car, but not 30k+ great in my eyes.

I'm probably not waiting until it comes in, deciding on the spot is not a good idea for me ;).

I'll cancel once the too-high price is announced if the dealer doesn't bulge off msrp.

+1

Pricing will come out the same time. Just because an order goes in on March 1 does not mean you will get the BRZ in April or May...could still be June.

Lol I didn't even think Subaru knew the price of the BRZ yet.

Same here. I'm getting a call as soon as my order is in, so I'll post if there's some pricing info.

I agree, but cars should start hitting dealers in May, for sure individuals may not see their own car for a month or more later, but the same is true with the FR-S.. June for some.. july/august for others, etc.

i dont understand this tactic as long as the refunds are refundable. they need to release prices already

The car hits the lots in 2 months. They've known what price it would sell at for awhile now. You don't spend 100s of millions of dollars without knowing the market (or at least thinking you do) and what the product will cost (ballpark). Specifics have been ironed out by this time, it's just completely illogical for them not to know the price they will sell the car at 2 months before the release.

It is important dealers fully understand the order filling process as you submit your sold orders. In summary, allocations for the 7 months May-November have been developed for each dealer. Fulfillment of a dealer’s allocation quantity will be spread basically pro-rata over the 7-month period and will not accelerate based on the number of sold orders submitted nor will it be reduced based on the number of sold orders other dealers submit.

so this means you only get your car if they decide to send it to your dealer right? meaning that they are not going to send one with the exact same specs just because a customer requested it right? this is how it was done with the veloster

They will try to fill the order. If they have the car at the time it should be shipped, then it will be sent to the dealer requesting it. On the other hand, if it's NOT available, the dealer will get a random car.

Wife and I preordered a '13 Impreza the first day it opened and had the pricing.

Yeah, my dealer said they would know pricing by Thursday. Could just be dealer bs, but I think this would be a logical time for them to release the prices.

They have to remember that they still face stiff competition. Each customer's decision is based on a value they create in their own mind.. but part of that value is determined by what other competitive cars cost. If they go much higher than $25k they will start to quickly lose customers to the miata, Mazdaspeed, VW GTI, Genesis coupe, etc..

Just because a car is rare doesn't mean it's worth more money.. you have to have high demand as well.. That demand will not come if they outprice their competition.

Yep. I've been concerned they might overprice it for awhile due to the extended development period (on a car with mostly parts bin parts). They also have to fight the expectations that most here have on the pricing, ie 23k-24k for the FRS, 24-25k for the BRZ Premium and 26-27K for the BRZ Limited. Less than that and people will be extremely happy, but above that and people (who have already increased their pricing expectations during the development timeline) but above that and the car does look like a pretty horrible deal, especially for "average joe" shoppers (ie the guys who only look at numbers.. 27k.. 200hp.. sports car? WTF!!!).
