Yeah stay away from the orange.

This only thing I'm worried about is the maintenance for the dark grey. I don't want to see those circular scratch marks that you always see on black cars in the sun.

Is dark grey one of those colours? Anyone had one before?

Swirls are from auto brush car washes , and dodgy hand wash places. All colours will cope that. My celica paint was perfect up until about 5 yeArs ago and I started neglecting it. Massive swirls. Also stopped garaging it at night and the paint just seems to degrade.

Yeah black and dark grey will be the worst. I will be buying new washing gear for the 86 and separate stuff for my wife's aurion. Will be cleaning out the garage too for the 86.

You'll get swirls from forgetting to wash your chamois one time ... it's just discipline i've never had it personally.

I used to when I actually loved my car. Washed it every week. Ever since I stopped garaging it , I stopped washing it. Them when I did wash it, it would be at the self serve car washes.

Yeah gotta wash the chamois all the time.

My boss got a Rs focus. Nice car, lots of powwaaaa, but fwd  . 9 months old? and washed it twice !!! I tell him off every second day !!!!

ive always used the middle priced stuff. polyglaze.. Will be buying more expensive stuff for the 86. Mcguires ? ...

always made sure sponges were clean and replaced them when needed. wash from top down. seperate sponge for undercar bits, wheels and exhaust.

Buy the best chamios. 1 for inside, 1 for outside, 1 for the door sill, boot sill, engine bay

I have not been much of a fan of waxing and polishing. When i used to garage the car and wash it every week, i did not have polish it for 4-5 years. Would have to polish every 6 months now. Which i havent been.

I would never recommend cut and polish. NEVER

Black shine. Amourall ? Dont use it on the black bits on the outside and dont use it on the inside of your car. I think its like tanning oil. Just makes it burn and discolour. (from my experience)

im probably not the best to comment on this... But this is what i want to stick to for the 86

oh yeah! I love washing cars, makes me appreciate the car every time I wash the car.

Car wash with Maguire's GOLD or Premium Shampoo.
I do the same thing, 1 chammy for body, 1 for door sills, boot sills extra, 1 for inside. another cloth for windows (my cousin keeps telling me to try newspaper because it just "works" better on glass, it won't leave fluff on your windows he says... *rolls eyes* right...). polish every season, apply with micro fibre cloth all over car, then buffer off with micro fibre auto buffer with variable speeds. and then for plastic I use BMW plastic car, works like magic! smells good too. xD

Eheh I hardly ever wash my car, every few months if I'm lucky. Same sponges/brushes etc that I've had for years.

Funky Fresh, my predicament is the opposite to yours. I have ordered a white GTS manual because it was my first choice but I'm having a really tough time deciding whether ill like white or the dark grey better. Im sure I could change my mind but ill be waiting months more if I do!

Does the white look really awesome in person? Its not really a true white as pearl is always that bit nicer looking than a flat white IMO. It shows the little details of the car better than any other colour which is lost on the black and grey.

Its so hard to decide without seeing the cars in the flesh!!

ive only had one white car before, it was a supra and I didnt keep it long because I got over it. thast wasnt pearl though. Traditionally ive preferred darker colours. Argggh!

Hi spiller,

How far off is your car? My car arrives in Aus on the 20th of this month and I was actually looking for someone with a white GTS manual to swap me for my grey GTS manual if I did have to wait too long. If your from Vic there may be a dealer swap option. But I still would like to see the grey in person first.

Now back to your original question, yes the white does look amazing in person and the pearl in it is perfect and your right, the pearl shows all the curves. It's it was sitting next to an orange one and it's hard to describe but the white or the pearl in the white just made the car seem wider and look a lot more aggressive. That's why I like the white.

I think the grey will look just as aggressive in person also.

I know it's not the same but here are some photos I took with my iPhone...

So does it look like Australia has missed out on the 'Dark Blue / E8H / Ultramarine (Scion) / Galaxy Blue Silica (Subaru)' that America and Japan have; instead the only blue option being the 'WR Blue Pearl' colour ('Sonic Blue' is what Toyota is calling it)?

Nope, as posted in another thread it's just a bad picture. The colour code of sonic blue in the PDF of brochure is E8H. Subaru would not put its flagship colour onto a Toyota ;)
