These guys were probably the smartest ones to switch to HD video encoding on their SLR during the road test.

IIRC You just had to press and hold the Odometer button while turning the ignition to Accessory on the 1st gen tC... hopefully it will be something similar for the FR-S/Celica/BRZ.

Thanks OP for posting the link to the clips, it has a nice sound from the factory.

Doesn't that resets the maintenance light!?!? I was talking about the seatbelt buzzer. A warning light bad enough but an audio warning is too much.

Awful turn signal and belt chime. US variant will definitely not have that, at least the Subaru wont.

Omg it sounds beautiful. If anyone dares put a ricer muffler and make it sound like a bloody lawnmower, I will track that car down and tear it out with my bare hands.

Sounds good, but the Gazoo clips sound really good.

I was a little worried from the fourth clip about rev-hang, but it didn't seem noticeable on the fifth.

You cannot be serious; if I heard that, I would have thought it was an inline 6-cylinder!!

Ikaros 11-15-2011 09:36 PM

Lol I didn't know you can't do it with subarus, I guess I've seen to much ricer civics aroun.

Oh btw would can you explain why you can't do it to a Subaru?

Exhaust port and header design mostly.

If you want to, try and find some on youtube that sound like crap. Its not easy.

I got mine to sound pretty bad at one point, but even then it wasn't nearly as bad as any of the aftermarket exhausts on Honda's I've heard. I've gone through probably a dozen different exhaust setups on mine, all of which were N/A too and not turbo'ed.

The ones with the best exhaust notes have unequal length headers, sound more beefy.

Here are a few:

3 different cars, each with different exhaust systems (Red one has a Cobb intake so it sounds a bit different)-

Old 2.2 auto with a straight pipe muffler and stock headers-

1.8l with borla headers and a straightpipe exhaust (no muffler)-

This was my "worst" setup, but the fastest. Equal length header imported from Japan, WRX resonator and a Prodrive muffler. With the stock '04 STI muffler I have, it sounded MUCH better. Also has a Cobb intake at this point too-

The FRS/BRZ will probably sound more like this with a good exhaust-

The first 2 clips sound fantastic. The seat belt sound is no big deal I always put my seat belt on.

Wait... That was with a resonator?! I shudder to think how awful your car would have sounded without one.
