Might be best to evaluate using pressure sensor. Then consider pressure at different temperature and RPM with and without an oil cooler, and if it actually reaches 300F.

(I have a pressure sensor, no pressure problems)

With the stock configuration, we would hit 130*C by the second lap but it would stabilize there. You can't use a thicker viscosity to compensate for the higher pressure losses of the JR dual oil cooler. The best compromise would be to choose an air to oil cooler with less pressure drop. That's something we're developing.

Out of curiosity, What was the pressure at 130C without oil cooler?

Heavily track the car (drifting), but also summer street car, using M1 0W-40. HKS is thermostat, so gets up to temp quickly, and I usually peak around 240*F (measured at sandwich plate) although I have seen higher. Pre-turbo I was getting up to 250F, so I just did cooler at the same time as turbo.

That's where I'm sorta coming from. Its not hard to ensure an oil cooler isn't leaking or having vulnerable lines. So with that said...seems oil temps of 220-240 are highly preferred (although not necessary) compared to 280-300F.

With FI it would be crazy, I wouldn't like 280-300 either but how many would hit it on NA?

What pressure do you see at 240? Also is this 1st gen or 2nd gen?

I have an alarm set for >30psi over 3000 rpm, and it doesn't trip the alarm. But that's all I can really say as I havn't logged it.

and sorry, this is on a 1st gen. My bad.

Sorry, we didn't have a pressure sensor when it was the stock configuration so we can't tell you the pressure at 130*C.

How are you able to delete the the factory heat exchanger with your JR oil cooler sandwich plate?

You need the center fitting Subaru 15018AA090. The fitting that came with the JR cooler needed modifying too since it was too long. We just sanded it down a little bit because it would tighten before squishing the sandwich plates tight.

We had to shave down the oil fill cap otherwise the hose would touch the airbox. Even with shaving the cap, it's very close to touching.

Being close to the cap is a problem on Gen 1 as well.
