I voted under 8:00 min. At least mine will be that fast after all the mods.

Hope you are an ex-F1 driver.

8:00 BTG maybe.. but not a full lap.

Having done 100+ laps of the Nurburgring over the last 7 years i can tell you right now that i dont believe that this car will be able to get below 9mins straight from the dealer.

Not with RWD, 200bhp and 2800lbs...

If it does we're talking very very high 8min laps. An 8:30 lap is just not going to be possible imho...

My GT4 can comfortably get around in 8:30, but we're talking a huge difference in power here....

Anyone tried putting the first or second concepts around nur on GT4? Im curious as to what the concepts can do...

Michel 07-01-2011 06:24 PM

8:30~8:40 full lap (around 8:15~8:20 BTG) should be doable with a modern car like the ft86. Just because you drive 8:30 BTG with an overweight antic gt4 doesn't mean a pro driver can't go faster with a much more modern car. I've done 823 laps over 11 years (yea i'm a noob..) and I'm still getting my ass handed by Clio's and GTI's while doing faster laps.

"Levi" is just a nickname. His real name is Giancarlo Fisichella :burnrubber:

I've done that in GT5 using mkI with ballast to add weight to 1200kg and power limiter to reduce the hp to 200 hp. The quickest I can get (red time meaning I spinned out somewhere) is 8:47.xxx IIRC. I believe with a great driver the time can be reduced.

Btw no tuning nor modification was done during that trial.

You live 100 miles from the nurburgring and you've only done 823 lap in 11 years? Thats only 74 laps a year.

If i lived that close i would be there all the time! lol ;)

overweight antic gt4? :iono:

You do know there is only 130kgs between a SW20 Turbo and a lightweight spec ST205 GT4 right? - And my car has been lightened further by 150kgs so unless you've been lightening; it actually weights less than your car.

And i assume you mean antique? mine is a 94...yours is a 92...do you consider yours an antique?

Typical sw20 owner to try and slag off the st205......sigh..... jealousy i think....lol ;)

I'm in the process of trying to obtain one of these MR2s. I can also say that some MR2 owners have gotten their weight into the 2200s lbs. Lightweight indeed.

bigbcraig 07-02-2011 04:15 AM

low-mid 8:40s.

I did 8:56 with 198HP and 1200kg. As Allch Chcar pointed out, 200PS = 198HP. I just checked the internet. It's really 197.26. Oops. That was also with fixed sport suspension. I need that to keep from spinning out in high speed sweepers because I suck, haha! Like Want.FR-S showed, better drivers can do better even without the upgraded suspension.

Oh, and I chose 8:40-8:49.

Leeky 07-02-2011 05:31 AM

A friend has sent me a youtube link today of a Clio 200 Cup doing BTG in 8:18. This is 200bhp in a car that weighs under 1000kgs...

So i stand corrected and people are probably right that the FT86 will be able to do a late 8min lap. But i dont think its going to be able to get below 8:30 with 200bhp and 1300kgs (just over 2800lbs by my calculations right?).

I hope the car is lighter.... i thought it was going to be about 1100kgs (just under 2500lbs) originally?

Also i wonder how hard you can corner in the FT86 before it breaks traction? Having been developed as a homage to the AE86 id expect it to be a car thats easy to drift, meaning its going to be more difficult to get it to stick in corners at high speed surely?

I was comparing your gt4 to a modern car, like the ft86 ;)
There is no point in comparing it to the SW20 since this topic is about the ft86.
