Go to drift events when it's raining.
It ruins your tires at lesser rate. |
Have you seen drift cars? In a car with stockish power, what you need are tires and spare wheels, four should be enough for the day (depends on the speed of the course). There's not enough power to burn through a bunch of sets. Since you only need rears, and they're going to get burned up, you only need to mount them, not balance.
But there's a really good reason why drift cars look beat up. They only invest enough money to keep them going at the next drift event. When you begin to up the power and speed, increase steering angle, start to tandem, then your budget will increase a whole lot. |
"How do you afford to Drift?"
The answer to 99 out of 100 questions is always "money". In this case, the answer is: You need to make more money. |
If you really love something, you will find a way to afford it.

Everyone I know who drifts here in Okinawa does it on the street at night, but the cops are making that much more difficult. There are track events about every 3 months though. One local guy said he practiced every night for 2-4 hours, for 2 years. He replaced his tires every 3 days. "You can do it if you don't mind being broke all the time."
I've replaced my tires twice in the past two months and decided to quit drifting for the time being. I suck at it anyway. |
