You can find a number of 2.5RSs that have already had complete STi drivetrain swaps, working DCCD, brakes, etc... if you want one. Just google Subaru RSTI and you'll be on the right path. Some people were importing JDM STi front clips and drivetrains to do these swaps; others just grabbed USDM STi 2.5 drivetrains as they started becoming available on the salvage market. The benefit of the JDM STi swap is the 2.0L closed or semi-closed deck engine, depending on the version. The drawback is the time and complexity of getting it shipped from Japan.

Oh yeah, I've look on there numerous times and have considered it, but If I got a USDM one, I would kind of want to do it myself. I can do a good majority of the work myself. The only things I'm not particularly experienced with is wiring and paint/body work.

I would just need the space and tools to do it.

Yes! :happyanim:

This platform in a WRX version will rock my world! They say for 2019 so the timing may even work out.

Congratulations. I've heard the new Impreza is a big leap forward in terms of quality/fit & finish, and comfort.

It is quite frankly a spectacular handling car (with the sport package). The reinforcing of the structure, the use of the same steering as the BRZ and the torque vectoring gives it a feel that rivals the FRS in a turn.
I didn't think I would ever say these words in my life but the new gen CVT tranny isn't any slouch either. Of course at 152HP it is no speed demon but for a sporty and fun grocery getter it works just fine.
The quality, fit, finish and appointment of the interior and body panels is so far ahead of the previous gens that it can be hard to remember that it is a Subaru.
The appearance is a bit mundane from the sides and rear but no doubt that will be beefed up a bit when they make the upgraded version.
A WRX or STi version will be very popular I am sure (even if they will be marginally bigger yet again).

That's nice to know. My wife and I will probably be test driving one soon along with a Forester XT. She's had her Focus ST for 4 years now and it's just time for something new. The new Impreza has a lot of nice tech in it and the interior is a nice improvement from the looks of it. The Apple CarPlay is nice because it means you don't have to spend the money for Subaru's subpar nav system, because you just use the maps on the iphone.

I love that it's standard too. BMW charges $350 extra for it on their cars, because apparently they can't include it on a car with a $50,000 price tag:thumbdown:

So far the stock nav in this has been excellent. There was an update that we had to have done but I have not had any of the issues I have heard about in some of the other units.
Her car is something that is not available in the US. It has all the features of the Sport as well as everything the Limited has. It is completely loaded.

We're probably just going to get the base sport model. Her ST is fully loaded, but she doesn't use half of the options it came with. That being said, we both kind of agree that a more basic trim would be better suited for her.

I hate the wheels! Ugly as sin. She likes them though so they will stay.
