Guy doesn't sound convincing at all. |
i wldn't mind the NA, throw on some individual throttle bodies on it!!!
|
I think they added too much mass to the front and rear. The low belt line is good, but the high ass fender flares on either end goof it up. They could easily lose a bit of the chub and have something sleek.

with simple mods, the 3SGTE makes 270hp. like $500 in mods. i'm still not impressed with the Hyundai's 2.0L turbo.
|
I wanted this car so much! But what I didn't want is bad and fat Ferrari copy.
All the originality has gone, it is not ugly but it doesnt look lean and slick anymore. |
I speculate that Toyota and Subaru will definitely aim for different markets as it is not reasonable for them to R & D just to save cost and fight in the same category.
More likely, Toyota will want to carry the spirit of AE86 and keep the important variables that made AE86 a legend. - Light weight - High Revving - Low CG In short, for market with the idea more of "Control" For Subaru, I think they will vary slightly, keeping some of the main attributes of the R & D, but giving their version a bigger punch on the power. I am thinking that they might come up with the turbo version and compete with another segment. Don't be surprised if they go into 300hp version. That sounds more reasonable in business sense. Share cost for R & D, and each competing for a different market share. If not for that the partnership will not make sense at all economically. |
Unlikely when they've already said it will be a 2.0 NA engine.
However thats not to say a few years after initial launch they wouldn't look at what you speculate. |

The whole world isn't America....but this IS America. RX8 I doubt would whoop an MS3 around a race track as well, unless it was modded or it was a course full of multiple turns and limited straights. If I want the II to be like another high rev'er, then I hope it's like S2kish rather than RX8ish. RX8 doesn't impress me even on boost. Swap the RX7 rotary in there, then you have done it right. And don't bring Big Blocks into this, no one is talking about American V8 torque here. American cars aren't the only ones that can make "satisfactory" torque numbers. I'm going to boost the SOB anyway though so...meh...moot points. More power and torque + high rev is not a bad thing. |

For those of you who like big muscle cars, try bringing them here, in Europe.
My Toyota MR2 (or spyder in the US), is a 23 MpG car or 10l/100km car (in real driving conditions), in its "little" 1.8L NA 140bhp engine. I love it, cause it always travels sideways. Bear with me in a small trip to conversion units: 100km in Europe for my car is 10lt, which costs here 15Euros, which is over there 20.71$, that you can use to buy 6.17gallons and travel in my car 141.85 miles, or 228 km. Let me make it clear: 100km in Europe cost the same as 228km in the US. So being the no1 superpower in the world, owning and stealing most of earth's petrol, establishing regimes and governments has its benefits. When the price of gasoline there is 8$/gallon, then come back and ask for the FT86 to have a 5.0L or 6.0L engine or even automatic gearbox. And when that time comes, I will be going sideways in my 2.0L FThachiroku, waving at the other side of the Atlantic, at people who prefer driving sideways a 60:40 weight ratio car rather than a 50:50 weight ratio car and spending three times as much! |

Yesterday i was in a corporate place, they showed us a chart about who consumes the most petrol.
American consumed 18.8 million barrels a day ( this being the number 1 country using the most ) 2nd is China with 8.3 million barrels a day. 3rd is matched up with some countries, like Russia. Im forgetting how much but it should be around 4.X million barrels a day. 1 more thing: America produces 9.X million barrels a day while importing another 9.X million barrels a day. har har This was all recent information, recent being Jan, 6TH 2011 |

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/12/r...ed-scion-ft-s/ "We know the Toyota rear-wheel-drive coupe will wear a Scion badge, and now we might finally know what it's going to be called. The just-make-it-already Toyota FT-86 concept has evolved into the Scion FT-86 and word on the web is that the production version will be known as the Scion FT-S." legit or fake? |

Eh, forget the name...it'll be FR-S probably (FT-S makes no sense...but whatevs)...I wanna know the chassis letter! mekekekekeke.
|
FT-S = Front Transverse - 'Sport'? That would be the tC.
|
Fr-s sounds ok. Didn't the ft stand for future Toyota, can't imagine they'd keep that after it comes out. maybe ct-s lol, "current Toyota-sport" :bellyroll:

Well technically there's a dash before the s so... jk but that'd be funny

average consumer wont know the FT stands for Future Toyota, even if you're a buyer. So...yeah they can keep the FT lol

I think the meanings changed too. (anyone confirm this?) Lexus Future - A (something?) to: Lexus Fuji Apex. |
I might be wrong but last i remember the F stands for Fuji only for the meaning behind the F-Marque Performance line, not necessarily for the F in LFA, i think that was Le Finesse something
