Ichi: FT86C is just flat underneath, no detail. I suspect all cars are.

Matador: Don't worry about the Gs. It is a representation of a turbo kit on the stock NA motor, offered with a factory warranty. Given the compression this thing runs, plus the numbers it puts out, I would say that we're only talking about 5-6psi (think Greddy twin-turbo kit basic setup on a 350Z, weak). Factory turbo numbers would be much different, torque would peak with more and earlier in the revs if it was a factory made, dedicated turbo motor. As would a full custom, built bottom-end, fully tuned turbo setup.

cyde01 12-07-2010 04:23 PM

so does the game tell you anything about the bore and stroke of the motor? is it an EJ or the new FB series engine?

not in my memory. All I wrote is all I got. Even I bought both FT86c and G's FT86c, but pretty much all the spec were "--" other than I've already posted

Same here! I currently have my FT with Stage 3 engine mod (about 370hp) and I can't go around a turn w/out the back skirting out! It's fun in the drift rooms but for time attack, forget about it. I'm going to detune mine...

Ah. Got it. Still seems like very little torque for the setup :iono:

which tires you have? I have bout same HP w soft racing tires and I don't have any problem in the corner... but of course I have full custom suspension set-up which took me over 4hrs to tune (now back to default, due to stupid 1.03 update).

I'll have to check but I think I'm running the Med Race tires. I lightened it alot, like 904kg or maybe under 900kg. I have the full suspension too, -5 height, offset spring rate, 7 compression with 5 rebound, -0.5 rear camber and -0.2 front camber, brake distribution 5 front and 6 rear. IIRC, you can't equip the torque controller. I think I'm even running an LSD too but not sure.

Do you remember your suspension settings by any chance?

K, here's my FT86c set up
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/IMAG0084.jpg
Weight: 890
HP: 377 (397hp after oil change)
TQ: 240 (254tq after oil change)
All the parts are all max/custom ones.
Tranny: Custom (so I can set up to every track)
LSD: Inital tq - 21, Acceleration sensitivity - 59, braking sensitivity 21
Suspension: Full Custom
*Ride Height: F0, R0
*Spring Rate: F10.1, R9.7
*Dampers Extension: F9, R7
*Dampers Compression: F8, R7
*Anti-Roll Bars: F7, R7
*Camber Angle: F0, R+0.6
*Toe Angle: F0, R+0.10
*Brake Balance: F5, R5
*Tires: Soft Racing

With this set-up, I'm running 55.612 on Tsukuba and 1:18.283 in Deep Forest. BUT just let you know, this suspension set up is set-up for me, so it's a bit peaky when tires aren't warmed up, so first lap running around +1.5~+2sec. So full brake to slip, no-gas to understeer, gas to adjust the turn. Also I purposely made it rear to slide lil bit on tight corner, so I can turn better. Most of the time it understeer.

So hopefully this set-up help you. If you like your FT86c to turn more, just change the camber or toe angle and stiffen up the rear suspension. I just like this set-up cuz when I go oversteer, I just need to let go of the gas and it correct itself.

RRnold 12-08-2010 02:17 PM

^ Thanks Ichi! Let me try your settings out to see how it handles! Anything was better than what I had given we have similar mods and weight. Maybe all I need is slicks!?! Maybe I should load the rear more?!

Did you add the chasis reinforcment?

Each week is like a new mistress! Lately I've been messing with my pearl white GTR!! :bellyroll:

NP, yeah maybe all you might need is slicks. I'll use other FT86 tonight after work w Racing tires to see if my setup or HP/TQ will change.

and yeah added chassis reinforcement, I added everything on that car... but to be honest, I can't tell the difference between with and without

Ichi, your settings are pretty stout! :happy0180: Before I tried your settings, I bought the Med slicks and even that alone was a huge difference. I'm not sure if its your Anti Roll @ 7 or your toe @ 0.10 but the FT plants the turns very hard. On the Tsukuba circuit I was able to get down to a 1:01 during the 5 lap race.

Yeah this setup kinda require some guts, to turn hard you gotta keep the throttle. Sometimes you get out of corner hella fast, sometimes you miss the throttle time and go off course. lol Most of the time, I change anti roll & toes for more turn or less turns to match w that courses I race (of course tranny too)... but other than that, I keep that setup.

Currently, I'm tuning the FT86 for Soft Sports tires, but I'm not getting the setup I like, so I'm still can't write my setup yet. Hopefully, I'll have it by tonight.

Yeah, maybe its my driving technique but I'm a late braker and you can toss the FT in turn with ease!

I'm going to stay with the Racing tires since the grip is a lot better and keep the weight up. I actually reduced the toe a bit and that seemed to make the car slide into the turns a lot better. Your settings is definitely a good benchmark though! :happy0180:

Thanks. I want to know how Dragon set up his FT86c. His G-Sport FT86c was fast in mid speed S turn corners. Where I need to hit a brake, he's on almost full throttle.

Maybe some time later we all need to have FT86c races :happy0180:

That would be sweet! Online, I'm able to sneak into the "HONDA only" and 400hp or less with the FT. I'll usually get booted with the Murcie or R35. A few times, I could hear them talking to each other, "hey what kind of car is that?" "oh shit, thats the new Toyota..."

Hm... never cared to go into online races other than the lounge, so I haven't done actual online races.

NESW20 12-10-2010 01:21 AM

i stick almost exclusively to online with friends, because that way when someone punts me through turn 1 at suzuka, i know where they live! :D

unfortunately i haven't been able to race with you guys yet, but i will!

Calais 12-10-2010 09:49 AM

can anyone help me with my gear ratios im finding that they are too short(especially 6th) on any kind of mid-high speed tracks and am constantly hitting the limiter, what should i put each gear ratio as or should i just change the final(and to what??)

FT86 for me is pure drift. Brake bias, toe, tires...all setup for drift.

My Gsport though....that thing is on rails...:) I love driving that baby to death. I think it has the most miles on it than any other car. I got a trophy award last night for either racing a race 100 or more times or X amount of miles on a car (forget the number). But once one of your vehicles reaches a certain mileage you get a hidden trophy. I'll see if I can look in my trophy list to see the exact verbiage.

PS....my driving style probably also had a lot to do with me being on the gas in mid corner. "Slow-in-Fast-Out" that's the way I drive. That's the way I race in real life too.

At this time, you are only allowed to change the Final Drive on any car.

Side note: I might buy an FT86c to setup for grip. And I might get another GSport for a Drift setup.

Seriously, your G's is freaking fast! I had to kinda cheat on one race :) That tells me, I gotta work on my G's more. It's not good enough as my other FT86c

Maybe I haven't practiced Mazda Laguna Seca that much, even though I was about 2secs on you there, it still didn't feel right on that track.

Your FT86c though was right at home on Trial Mountain. I was pushing hard to drop that 2sec gap you had on me there. I was pushing hard on that last lap. On that left hander it's a thin line between planting it and ending up in the wall. Last lap, I tried to accelerate earlier to catch you and ended up putting myself into the wall...:bonk: Had the damage set to Heavy, so there was no coming back from that one...lol. I limped it home thus the 15+sec victory for you. Nonetheless though, damn was the FT86c Fast at Trial Mountain. That N/A power at nearly 400hp was sweat. I couldn't keep up with you on the tightness of TM. I would like to get your FT86c against my GSport on Deep Forest next time.

Here is a tid bit of advice for you on the Grid start. Rev bouncing is not the fastest way off the line. I throttle it up to about 5k rpms....as soon as the "1" disappears from the screen, I got WOT. By the time the car registers WOT and starts to accelerate, the word "Start" is on the screen and I'm off. I seem to get off the line a lot quicker this way, give it a shot. Modulate the throttle and then when you see the "1" actually fade off the screen gas it.

Good Racing bro....I Unlocked Nurburg through the AMG Special event, so get your practice on as that's one that's going to be a challenge.

PS.....I can't seem to get Golds on the Special Events as there are no "Ghost" replays of yourself, so can't tell where I can be faster. I've had to settle for Silver, but I'm but a few tenths short of Golding them. I will take a crack at it again once I have my steering wheel. Either that or more practice on the Burg.

Dragonitti 12-10-2010 11:45 PM

Come on guys....Ich and I have battled a hand full of times now with our 86's. I think a 5 man Rush of 86's with me hosting the room will be a BLAST! We only clean race, so no shinanigans! Bring your A GAMES cause I don't play with "bandaids" and now that damage is in the game, it's Heavy Damage 24/7. You crash at the NurBurg, you might as well exit the race....LOL.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I felt so weird racing in Laguna. That 2 sec is all I can keep, but 2nd time you kick my ass hardcore. one secion, you had me on 16sec. Seriously, I need to tune my G's

Thanks, took me ridiculous amount of time tuning that FT86c. It's still not a perfect, but in those tight corner course, it's perfect... like trail mountain & other bumpy course. Deep Forrest? Sure, hopefully I can keep it up w your G's, cuz your G's is way fast in mid section cornering while, I'm still struggling with it.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, if I have my gas as R2, prob I get better acceleration, but I still have as x, so can't do anything bout that. I tried doing it w R2, but something bout it, it doesn't sit well w me. I'll keep that in mind to soften up the start. Unless I have this controller or G27, I highly doubt gonna improve much more.
http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...controller.jpg

Please no Nur, I'm hella sux at Nur. I'm practicing over and over there, but still crashes. Prob you can Reverse whole track and you still beat me. :bellyroll: btw what's your time lap in Nur w FT86c or G's FT86c?

What do you mean by can't keep your ft on the track? understeer? oversteer? what tires do you use? How's your suspension setup? We might able to help setup your suspensions to fix that problem.

Also it's not like, we're the fastest FT86c drive (well maybe Dragon w G's). I'm having hard time tuning G's FT86c, so you're not the only one w having problem keeping FT86c in the track and throttle control. We usually have fun race, so join! :)

Guess I'll power up the ol box tomorrow after work, should be 6-8pm EST, not sure what that is for u guys, its oversteer tho, I'm getting the hang of it (early braking)entering corners tho I normally have to brake early as to not end up having the rear slip out on me.

psn is Jay4prez I think

Which tires? Sports or Racing? If it is Racing tires then try changing the toe angle or camber, that might help out w oversteering. If it is Sports, work round anti-roll and spring rate. That should help out to setup the way you want.

70NYD 12-12-2010 08:01 AM

I'm down 2, but for next time if I'm awake lol. Psn is x-70nyd-x I think.. Couldnt start the name with a number lol
Anyway itchi your setup kicks arse, I just softened the front up a little I take corners too fast and it was hopping lol. Don't have enough money fo the full mods but I'm running 58 on tsukuba, but the hairpin I take very bad. Love cape ring cus you get air haha. Tried taking undercarriage shots to find it was fully black.. If the production version us ANYTHING like the concept performance wise.. WOW. Haven't got the g yet, been playing new Vegas too much, love blowing shit up too much
Btw myn is Matt black of all colours :) that's what I was after lol
How do you upload photos from gt5 to the comp??

Calais 12-12-2010 09:36 AM

im up for it though i'll prob b at the back of the pack hvnt tuned the ft up too much only getting 1:00 at the moment at tsukuba but thats on sports hard maybe i'll put some racing soft and see how i go.

anyway my PSN is Grk_ScOrpIoN
