definitely still interested in the silver version.
What pattern have you gone with on the back of the brass/bronze one, is it still the wheel design minus the 925?

JiB 07-05-2012 06:16 AM

It will be the 86 both sides.
But if the below post gets enough thanks (10+) i will master the 86/wheel keyring without the 925 too.
The new one i made (thicker one) feels really nice in my hands, no sharp edges. but its up to you guys, im easy

JiB 07-05-2012 06:17 AM

Original minus 925?

Sutty 07-05-2012 06:58 AM

My preference would be for a silver version with wheel pattern on the back. The '925' doesn't bother me, I'd take it with or without.

Chewie4299 07-05-2012 10:18 AM

I'm surprised that I'm the only one who suggested the 86 on side A with the Toyota T on side B.

If that's not going to be an option then I may opt for the second one in silver.

"BRO! I paid 1500 bucks for a gold 86 keychain!"
/smack

Its coming along, getting mould done at the moment, thats a 3 working day process, then i get 20 or so cast, then i have to clean them all up (dirty apprentice work :( ) and then work out the best way to sell them. A co worker said paypal is probably the easiest.

I will send out the first batch and wait for them to receive and review, The last thing i want is to send out 40 and find that no one is happy with them. I'd prefer that this forum likes me rather than thinks i ripped them off :D

I should probably find out from a moderator whats involved in selling through the site.

Ps. Thanks to the Moderator that gave Aust/Nz sub forums, less messy now :)

absolutely love the 86 with the wheel design on the back. registered and bookmarked just for this :thanks:

mashal 07-08-2012 09:52 PM

Yeah I love it, the 925 don't bother.. As a matter of fact that will be your proof that it's real too.
Subscribed , will be buying

Progress:
Mould is done and master is back with me, order some for casting tomorrow and should have them Friday or Monday. I have decided that i will choose a couple of people and give them the keyring free of charge and then they can review it, pro's cons, honest opinions, all that jazz. Will post some new pics tonight. Prices next week :)

Cheers

Screw honesty! I promise to tell everyone it's the best thing ever! It even washes your car for you!

out of the mix you should give one to the most negative potential customer so that some nitpickings can validate that the reviews are honest. it's like you shouldn't buy some item on amazon where everybody says 5 stars. you should buy the ones with 3 and 4 stars because they are more real. nothing is perfect.

i promise you 4 stars :P gimme gimme :D

*this has turned into a "why should i get freebie" contest lol

Mpowered 07-11-2012 12:31 PM

looks awesome. powdercoated CNC'd aluminum would be awesome. Youre probably infringing on their trademarks so I wouldn't turn this into a huge business...

rick 07-11-2012 12:54 PM

Thats awesome! Im a jeweller on board aswell! All the way from Dubai. JiB let me know if you need any sort of technical knowhow assistance. Was the master made via RPT/CNC or hand made?

:happy0180:

Brimford 07-11-2012 12:57 PM

Cant wait for this, definitely want one! :party0030:

Nevermore 07-11-2012 01:11 PM

I need one of these because of the following,

1. Never owned a new car, want to show my loyalty to the brand and my awesome new car.
2. My keyring is boring, nothing but keys, store card things, and a little pocket knife.
3. I really want one.

For your consideration XP.

HotLeopardMama 07-11-2012 08:34 PM

I don't mind paying or getting it for free--I think it's awesome either way.

But, I'll throw one out there for fun--ladies first? Hehe.

dhpinoy 07-11-2012 10:56 PM

Wondering if you could make one that is a spinner? The '86' in the middle that spins. with a good amount of weight too, i love having my keychain have weight.

Something like this:
http://ak.buy.com/PI/0/250/223039088.jpg

I'd pay a good amount of $ for something like this.

JiB 07-13-2012 03:19 AM

Here's those pics i was suppose to post the other day :)

I have to say, i am impressed with this metal, white bronze. its soo hard, i have had it on my key chain for a few days, and where my silver one got that beat up look, this is pretty much the same, only some very fine scratches.

I wasnt sure if this metal could be plated or not so i tested out the platinum family's Rhodium eletroplating, Success! nice and white now, i will try a yellow gold plating when i get my first batch back :)

pretty exciting!

Sutty 07-13-2012 03:30 AM

That looks excellent, like how it still appears to be silver, but now has the ruggedness of being bronze. Can't wait to get one for myself.

JiB 07-13-2012 03:43 AM

Thanks :) really happy with how its turned out :) i would have much prefered to have taiwan make them for me, for ease and costs. but there is a certain benefit to being australian made :) my poor fingers though...

I will go into australian post and see if i can send them in envelopes, $3 postage rather than $7 parcel costs, plus the parcels are a 20 day journey by sea where as the envelopes are 3-10 by air (to US)

LeavingNormal 07-13-2012 03:45 AM

That's bad ass JiB!

So long as you can keep keyring to a standard size envelope and less than 20mm deep when packing, the key ring can be sent as a regular letter. More than 20mm deep and it's straight on to parcel post.

20mm is heaps, wonderful news :) and it should be under 50grams.

Cheers!

:respekt:

Not being a jeweller or metalurgist can you give me an idea how long the rhodium electroplating would last. Is this the same as 'silver plating' or is it stronger and less likely to wear away. I am pretty easy on my gear but if the electro plating is not a long term effect I think I would still stump up for a silver version.
