I'm gonna greenlight my photo project this summer. Definitely would be nice to feature a 2000gt. :D

And it's white! To think that I tracked and rallyed the car to it's limits makes me shudder sometimes. BTW, a stock FR-S would run rings around it yet the driving experience is remarkably similar.

I did a body off resto, it's mechanically and cosmetically all there.

I'm thinking this is the time to sell with prices through the stratosphere. Although it sounds like a fairy tale, and I don't mean to sound greedy, the fact is that most of the sale proceeds will go to taxes and fees. Still not a bad payday and ROI though.

What a beaut! Definitely a car I could only own in my dreams.
I'd love to get a nice group photo of all white Toyotas to print in a poster size.

We are the most Canadian Muricans. Oh shucks, welcome to Portland. Hope you can find the time to check things out. Off season but still a beautiful place to visit.

Ironically we are the most Murican Canadians (I can see the Detroit skyline from my one plant) so it works out great!

Portland is one of the very few larger U.S. cities I have never been to so I look forward to the visit.

Microbrews, food carts, and strip clubs. Do them at least twice. ;)

My company in their infinite wisdom decried that all the plant safety managers need to learn how to do guarding assessments.
The fact that the Canadian Standards are radically different and that I have taught a collage level course on machine guarding for many years mean nothing to them.
Had the choice of Portland or Midnowhere Kentucky so figured Oregon was the lesser of two evils.

Portland has been repeatedly named the most desirable city to move to so I wouldn't be surprised if you eventually moved her like everyone else I meet. I think at least 95% of the people I meet didn't grow up here. It's a rare day to us native Oregonians when we find another native. I think most are either died of old age or were killed off by the non-natives in 'accidents'.

Yes I'm native if you ask. :p

You will enjoy it, Portland is like a smaller Seattle mixed with Vancouver,CA with a brighter color tone throughout the city minus the randomness of buildings from all different ages u see in Seattle. I miss driving through Beaverton & Downtown Portland. The view from I5 passing portland is really lovely.

They didn't make it there to become a native!
I wasn't really planning on traveling by covered wagon anyway.
Although if I did I could start a FRS vs Two Oxen and a Wagon thread!!!

I stand corrected, guess they wouldn't have been natives at all now that I think of it. :bonk:

And Two Oxen and a Wagon would probably win from a stoplight, but the FR-S would win on a road course :D

Trivia time: You can still drive the Westernmost part of the Oregon Trail called the Barlow Road. About a dozen of us in the local FJ Cruiser club did it a few years ago. The ruts from the covered wagons are still there. Only passable in Summer/Fall but it's a scenic journey back in time worth renting an SUV to experience.

This time of year is great for Nordic/Alpine skiing/boarding in powder, terrain and scenery you flatlanders just don't have.

And yeah, our food carts and microbrews are special but if you've been to the better strip clubs in Montreal, nothing else anywhere public compares to them.

Then let's get those doggies back on the trail. Today I was at the dealers for an oil change. They had a series 1.0 automatic. There was a family there (buying a car) which included the atypical 11 year old boy. As the family was walking out the kid pointed to the 1.0 and said "when I'm 15 I'm buying that car." Checked the 1.0 out myself. Nice but I'll be keeping the H.L. manual thank you very much. Too doodady for The Antiriced.

Since HL is only 5% of the 4000 FRSs sold in Canada mine is one of only 200 (so far) in the country. Of those 200 at least 50% (can't find any official break out) are ATs so that takes my MT to an even better place for scarcity. Call me selfish but I keep hoping they will drop the colour.
My love affair is still strong!

I have no travel details yet but doubt Seattle will be in the plans.

Last time I was in Seattle I saw this new band that had just released a little album called Dreamboat Annie. Don't recall their name but maybe you have heard of them. This "Nancy" chick from the band liked my "little sailor hat" (the British style, flat, round thing) and sat on my lap and stole it for the whole show then came back and drank with us half the night.
Some good times were had in Seattle!!!!!!!!

Portland has been prime opportunity for californians who relocated due to rising costs of living. Selling their 400k houses, escaping their loans, and just cashing out a nice house or condo in pdx for half as much.

Jmonty 01-10-2015 12:13 AM

Or moving further south to Salem for more bang for the buck

NickFRS 01-10-2015 12:33 AM

I'm thinking about selling because I have 3 cars. The FRS has been fun but it also has sat for over a year of the ownership. I've owned it since June of 2012 and only put 20k miles on it. Seems like it's time to sell it before it depreciates more then it has. At this point id rather part out the car and sell it. Prob go stage 2 on our WRX and get more offroad mods for the XV we just got. The FRS was fun but in the end it's a childs wet dream of a car. That and it pulls way to much attention from the cops in my area. Been given 3 warnings on hardly going fast around corners. Prob have more fun taking my XV offroad camping then babying my FRS. And smashing in the WRX that is way quicker in a straight line. I built my FRS for corners and it's a thrill to smash around them. But it is a love hate relationship. Though we have not sold it yet. We will put it up for sale here soon and see if anyone purchase it. If not we will keep it as a summer car. I don't see the FRS as a year round car. I've been a subaru nut for to long. Id rather drive my WRX in the rain and snow. Rather use my XV for DD and bad weather. It's more of a summer play car to me. Which I feel it needs to be. Doesn't seem suitable for a DD in my neck of the woods.

After owning it for 2+ years I give it a 6.5/10. It still was funner then my STi when it was fully modified to my preferable taste. But then again the STi was a better all around car when the FRS lacks winter capabilities of my taste.

I bought a TRD strut tower bar a few months back, but I hadn't gotten around to installing it, until today when I changed my oil. I must say it's quite refreshing as the car feels better. The steering has gotten a smidge heavier, but has increased feel. I took a daily route today and the car was definitely much more planted through a corner I roll through on my daily commute (Burnside going west turning right onto SE 242nd). I think the redundancy of driving my car daily with the same mods for so long has allowed me to notice the change in driving feel by adding a strut bar.

Slowly modifying a car (because of family and other expenses) is not as gratifying, but I think every little change along the way is much more rewarding. :)

i think this is the key right here to having a car long term. too often i see people who go from stock to fully built in a year or two ... and then what. they've bought/installed every possible modification short of tearing the engine apart and going for a massive build. People tend to get bored because they aren't looking for parts anymore or planning what to install and they start looking for a new car/project to fill that void.

I for one have this issue, and am working towards not succumbing to it.

I agree, this was my philosophy of modding. change one thing at a time and enjoy the change. But soon, it was worth more "bang for the buck, saving time" if I did the whole suspension mod while the car was on the lift. Why not do the camber plate/rear LCA/Coils/arms when its all right there and needs only one alignment vs multiple alignments with each individual parts? That's what got me.

Same with tuning. If I get one part, tune, one part, tune, very inefficient. So I ended up getting a turbo kit, rather than nickle'n and diming here and there for 2 ~ 3 whp gains.

I think since I have the resources now to mod quickly, that made things difficult to "hold off". And having a group to compete with each other with mods to be in the "top modder" of the group.

I sold my car for other reasons, not because I was "bored with it and move on to another project", but not enough space.

Here are some shitty pics of my new ride, getting some stuff done this week and next week. Bone stock other than a complete debadge so far..

Thisis something I am battling with.

Since I am having the car up on the lift to do a header install, going with FP, OP, positive shift kit, shifter bushing, gear oil change, shifter springs, all at once. Followed by a tune at VIP performance.

Got the windows tinted on tuesday at Highline...a set of wheels and tires for the track is next on the list.

Gonna keep mine NA though for a while. Need to dump money into track days to actually work on driving skills first.
