Aw man, that's too bad. Anyway, we can always anticipate online. :D

somecrazyazn 05-20-2010 01:22 AM

I went to the TAS this year and it was pretty awesome haha, I was in japan visiting a friend who was there for foreign exchange and got lucky with the timing, didn't even know the TAS was happening till a few days after i got there :0

also got the see the G Sport FT-86 up close xD

Hey you guys complaining about being in japan and can't travel because of college, you got no room to talk, just be glad your not stuck in this god forsaken desert working 6 days a week 16 hour days. I would love to have the weekends off or even be able to drink, but lucky me this is a dry country, at least for us it is. I'm paying $60 a month for internet service that is a couple hundred bytes per second, makes dial up seem lighting fast. Instead of "I wish I could go god damn college" its "I wish I could go, wish my replacement would come out here 3 months early and then I could get an airlift home on time so I could take leave and go see the show".

Doty0588 05-20-2010 03:10 AM

Sorry had to vent a little, I'm a lil stressed/depressed out here and more then a little tired.

Calm down dude. My head is also been burn by spring/summer heat, just kidding. It's raining almost 24/7 here in Seattle.

It's actually been relatively nice, what are you talking about?
:iono:

I've actually looked forward to going out to push carts a few times in the last couple weeks.

Doty0588 05-20-2010 11:10 AM

I hate you all, it rained here a couple times....but because of all the dust in the air it rained mud not water. Its been kinda nice, been a little bit cooler last couple of days because all the dust in the air makes it like overcast and blocks out some of the sun and heat. It only got to 98 today, but the tempurature won't drop below mid 80's tonight.

is this something you voluntarily signed up for???

Doty0588 05-21-2010 04:00 AM

Well I signed up for the military, but not this deployment. You are told you are going and not much you can do about it.

Dark 05-21-2010 01:04 PM

Guys, I read a news in LLN. Tokyo Motor Show next year will due in December next year instead of October.

Right. The production will start as soon as 2012 and may hit the showroom in the first quarter 2012, it's just my prediction tho.

My dream would be for a new Supra but i'm not holding my breath .

Anyways, how much do you guys think would a new Supra cost, would it be under 60,000 OR more, oh of course the Twin turbo model .

I think it is still under 60,000. I researched and I have found out that its Base MSRP is around $22,500-$40,000.

Now, now.

Yes, it's tough luck, but I'm grateful that he's serving for the country (even though it's not my born country)... it might be more exciting to protect my country, so tell them to deploy you to Japan.

But seriously, thanks for serving.

Yes I'm well aware of that, still I should be allowed the luxury of bitchin about it.

something similar to a mkiv supra is already out = nismo 370z. Not turbo but it revs to 7500rpm. Costs $40K

Missing 2 Turbos, four-sensor four-channel track ABS w yaw control, v161 tranny (which said to handle 1000hp without problem), .98 lateral g's, & lists just goes on & on, but something similar to mkiv Supra.

thinkaboutit 06-04-2010 04:41 AM

you're comparing two different generations of cars

If you're comparing stock #'s, the nismo z has more power and equal to or better lateral g's then the supra and costs less than the supra did 15 years ago. The supra was better for it's day then the z is now, but i consider it old school now days. If you put the $5000 msrp difference into a tranny for the z it could also handle 1000hp. But why would you want to mod to 1000hp on a new car and void the warranty? Just buy used if you want 100000000hp.

iirc Z is running f245/r285 19 tires while Supra is f235/r255 17 tires. Z damn better run equal lateral g's or it'll be joke running those spec tires.

Oh, I agree that Supra is old school now days, but you also don't get it. Supra didn't need to do anything on tranny. Don't excuse w "back then" and "msrp" bs.

Why people put fart can on their car? Why people paint their car w fugly colors? Why people put Toyota emblem on VW? Why people put diamonds, rubies, sapphires, & platinum on their rims? Why, why, why, why, why?

K, I'll give you one example. My friend who use to own 350z, bought that car brand new (cuz he liked the new hood design than older model). Next week went to tuning shop and got it twin turbos and other mods on that Z (cuz he lost against stage 2 STI few days ago). He knew it'll void the warranty, but he didn't care. Why? Cuz he's damn rich enough to do it... so don't expect your opinion is same as others. People has different reasons for void the warranty of their car.

oh on the title part, you took the words right out of my mouth. "You're comparing two different generations". Also comparing Nismo 370z vs Toyota Supra is just pure laughter... be glad Toyota never sold TRD Supra at the dealers.

Thank you. I was just about to pull out my gloves and slap this sumabich.

Need I say again that the Supra will be 17 years old this year, and It did all that it did on 17" wheels shod with 17 year old tyre technology.

Comparing the scope of things, and the cars of the time, the Supra was the GT-R of it's day.

The Nismo 370Z isn't even in the league of the TRD 2000GT (TRD MR2) much less the TRD 3000GT (TRD Supra).

Great for your friend. He (probably his parents) has money to void the warranty on a brand new 350Z.

MOST people (even enthusiasts) care about msrp and how much money they spend on their new car purchases. Also, enthusiasts don't spend more than 1% (if any) of their driving time in spec series races. So why are you talking about spec tires? How much of your driving is actually done in a spec seiries race?

P.S. You are doing just as much comparing between the two cars as I am. BTW, In my first post I was simply trying to state that a stock nismo 370Z would put down equal or better performance #'s(ie 0-60, 1/4 mile, skid pad, lap time), as a stock mkiv did 15 years ago. I'm talking about stock #'s because most people will not want to void their warranty (this message board is, "How much would a new Supra cost?").

P.S. If you like Supras, and you like to modify cars, then you should buy an mkiv and make it better than a mkv Supra. It wouldn't cost as much as an mkv Supra would cost brand new if Toyota did make one (my guess is at least $65K to compete with the Skyline R35GT-R performance). My two cents.

Yes, my friend's parent is millionaire (close to anyways), but no. They have not drop penny on him or his hobbies (he's married and already moved out of the house long ago). All the stuff he do is out of his pocket.

Who's most people? 1% of what driving time? Someone please enlighten me on this one. It doesn't make any sense.

If you wanna know, if I ever been on spec series races then yes, I have. I have done time attack, SM2 class, & few local shop sponsor time attack events. Sad to say, never won any series or races, closest I got was got 11th place on local shop sponsor time attack (FF street class with ek). I can say, I have spent a lot of time on the track (both spec races & open track day). Only one that I've never done is Auto-X.

If you wanna do STOCK then bring out Nissan 370z spec and not Nismo 370z spec. If you wanna bring Nismo 370z then need to bring TRD 3000GT. Apple to apple
Toyota Supra's specs (from Wiki)
0~60 - 4.6 sec
1/4 - 13.1 @109
.98 - lateral g's
70-0 - 149ft (only one beat that was Carrera GT by 3ft in 2004)

Nissan 370z spec (got the spec from Motor Trend First Test Numbers for the new 2009 370z & 2010 Ford Mustang vs 2009 Nissan 370z & PDF Nissan 370z Spec)
0~60 - 4.7 to 5.2
1/4 - 13.3~13.5 @ 106~103.7
.97~.94- lateral g's
70-0 - 159ft

Sadly, I don't have the spec of TRD 3000GT, so can't compare with Nismo 370z.

Sadly, I don't have the spec of TRD 3000GT, so can't compare with Nismo 370z.

When i say STOCK, I mean new cars off the showroom floor with warranties intact. Therefore, the stock Nismo 370Z would match/better the stock mkiv performance #'s.

The title of this thread was "How much would a new Supra cost?" NOT "How much would a new TRD 3000GT Supra cost?". If the title was the later, then i would NOT have mentioned the Nismo 370Z; because I know that a stock Nismo 370Z wouldn't put down the same #'s as a stock TRD 3000GT MKIV.

I am aware that the MKIV was originally designed to be competetive with or better than GT-Rs not Z's. I am also aware that the MKIV has better tuning potential than the Nismo 370Z.

Why would you care about what spec tire you're rolling on when you do most of your driving on the streets and/or track days; and NOT racing in spec competition. Only if someone will be buying a dedicated race car, can I see spec tires making a difference in thier buying decision.

Again, I'm talking about most people on this message board and not people who race spec series regularly.

K, FYI anything TRD did to their car, it will not void the warranties. That include turning your Supra into TRD 3000GT (as long as TRD worked on it). & yes, TRD 3000GT was on the showroom. I sent e-mail to my bro (in Japan) to ask uncle to confirm bout this and he claim that some Toyota Special dealers (around Yokohama) did provided TRD 3000GT w full warranties (for few yrs).

You're absolutely right! So stop talkin' bout Nismo 370z this, Nismo 370z that. You the one saying Nismo 370z have better this and that (without any specs or reference sites). Like you said, it's about TOYOTA Supra, NOT NISMO 370Z. Comparing/guessing new Supra MKV to Nismo 370z is pure insult. I rather be compared w Corvette.

If you wanna talk bout Nismo 370z, do it off-topic thread. I'll be gladly praise how Nismo 370z perform. I know they're awesome cars, I have driven them in and out of track before. They sure make my car feels like POS after coming back from the track.

Then compare with GT-R. In my guess, it's gonna be costing around same or lil bit below the price tag of R35, not Nissan or Nismo Z's.

The R35 is AWD and the Supra is FR = Two different drivetrains, so I'm not going to compare.

I never compared or guessed anything to or about the "MKV" (check my posts). Because a close to production concept MKV doesn't even exist yet.

I never said that the TRD 3000GT Supra wasn't stock. The thread is about new Supra, not new 3000GT. So I suggested a new a car that is similar to the MKIV SupraTT and not the 3000GT.

I race; but not in spec races b/c there is none anywhere close to where I live. And even if there was, I don't want to spend the time or money on a dedicated track car (sportbikes are more cost effective for track days).

I will stop talking about the N***o 3**Z on this thread because I'm tired of this subject now.

Why are all you guys fighting, relax.

You cannot compare the supra and 370z because the Supra was made in 1993 and 370z in 2008.Different generation.

Compare the Supra with rx-7 twin turbo, skyline twin turbo, etc

It's amazing how good this car really is and you really have to give toyota their props on making a legend of a car.

Thank you Toyota for making the Toyota Supra twin turbo

but please get your rich fat asses off the couch and make me a new fuckin Supra, don't tell me the Lexus LFA is it because 1.I cannot afford it and even if i could, they are already sold out 2. It's a v-10, a supra is inline 6.

Please Toyota, make a new Toyota Supra, please

- I hate when people on the internet make assumptions about how people get what they have.

- Tyres make a huge difference on performance. Tyre technology has made huge advancements over the last decade, so it is worth mentioning.
