I stay with scion i prefer the front end of the FRS plus i have a 05 TC hopefuly get a good deal for a trade in.QUOTE=Veloist;175267]Now that both cars' official prices have been released....
FR-S Pricing Thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4328 BRZ Pricing Thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4755 Me, I'm staying with the FR-S because fanboyism and favoritism and pride with Toyota. Never thought once about getting the BRZ over the FR-S![/QUOTE] |
i don't know if this is true, but i feel like i read somewhere that the subaru price does include destination, while the scion does not. if that's the case the difference between the 2 is only like 600. that would make the subbie the better value imo, but i still want the scion. sorry hopefully i'm not spreading false info!!!

P.S. ALL of you need to switch to the BRZ. Please :D

staying with the BRZ since the beginning!!! love the look...its going to hold its value a lot more down the road, more options..also Subaru knows more about Boxer engines then toyota ;)
Remember Scion people Toyota has to train there tech's how to work on Boxer engines...not like Subaru where they've been working on Boxer engines for more then 20 something years... |

I'm thinking of canceling my BRZ order. Has anyone done this yet? My limited BRZ with options will be over 31k OTD... If i'm already having buyers remorse now I can't imagine how I'd feel over the next 5 years...

Wait 'til you drive it, then decide. Subaru and Scion have done a great job in building value for this car already; the test drive should seal the deal for you.
cyde01, the price DOES NOT include destination charge of $750. I gravitated to the BRZ side the moment I heard for certain the Toyota version would be badged a Scion. Visions of car meets with pimped out xB's and xD's flashed through my head, along with a Camry, 10 Celicas and a half-running MR2 (typical Toyota/Scion meet in my region. Good luck ever seeing a Scion at an auto-x or track day here!). Then I thought about the BRZ, and visions of high-HP WRX's and STi's danced through my head (typical Subaru meet/driving event in my region). That peppered with the memory of being at Mt. Washington last summer to watch David Higgins crush the hillclimb record in a WRX STi helped me see why it made sense for Subaru to build a sports car. Then I saw the Scion interior with its boy-racer-red accents and Tonka-tough HVAC knobs (sorry guys, it's just how I feel) and that was the end of my decision. Sure I'd love to save ~$3300 on a Scion vs. a BRZ Limited, but the benefit outweighs the cost in my eyes. |

sorry i always wanted to say that..lol:D |

I'll report back how easy it is to get my deposit back. |
I will most likely stick with the FRS, because its lighter and cheaper though the price of the BRZ will def have me looking closer at both models before buying...

The Subaru is definitely a better deal. Scion ticks me off with their mono-spec, mono-price BS. The fact that it will cost me more than a BRZ Limited to add HID/LED headlamps, fog lamps, leather/Alcantara seats, navigation, and SiriusXM to an FR-S does not make me a happy camper. But I really like the small styling differences of the FR-S. My practical side says, "Just buy a BRZ Limited and call it a day" but my emotional side says, "The FRS looks better and you'll never be satisfied with how the BRZ looks." :(

brz back end looks better, the fr-s tail lights stick out way too much :(!
but fr-s front end looks nicer! |

Concerning the rear, I'm pretty sure the taillights are identical but I could be wrong. |
The price difference will also be influenced by the limited quantities.
IF the limited quantities invite a market adjustment. I think if you are still having trouble deciding on a car based off of price, then wait until you actually see dealer costs. We act like the dealerships are going to use the Internet price :bonk: |

Tried showing friends some agreed some thought i was just being dumb. hah |
^ It's the reality-distortion effect of the ghastly Subaru Rally Blue paint... it warps your visual perception.

Things ive learned about this car while on FT86club in the last little while:
-Scion FRS is a cheapened uglified version of the 86 -Subaru's version is way better inside and out -Subaru is way better value -The rear end of the Subaru is way better than that of the Scion -Scion is not the same as Toyota and the cars are totally different -The car is overpriced because its super easy for a car company to make this car have 250-300hp and weigh less than 2500 lbs all for less than a Scion tC. -Its way too slow -HID's, NAV and Auto HVAC are dealbreaker features. What i miss? |
You realize the BRZ people will vote and skew the voting, right?
Should've had more options. |
2 year maintenance plan is like $200 to me, unless they add brake pad service too. We don't know if Scion/Toyota dealer performs oil change service using sync oil or not.

:laughabove: I'm sticking with the FR-S. Can't get past that ugly beak on the BRZ. HIDs are not that important to me. Only thing I want to add is the fog lights. |
What it comes down to...
The BRZ is about $25 more a month for 5 years of financing for most people. Is nav and HIDs worth $25 a month? Then the BRZ is for you. If not, then the FR-S is a better fit.

Its tough to say either is 'better' than one another, but id argue that Subaru is better than Scion, and make my decision from there. |

Uhmm Subaru badge looks prettier? That's all I can come up with. |
I still don't see why Scion can justify their pricing compared to the BRZ Premium. I guess HIDS and GPS navigation are really only $1315.
If you think about it, there is no other sports car out there with HIDS and GPS navigation for $26,245. I just hope that the FR-S is way lighter. We have not seen the official curb weight yet. But I can see what Scion is trying to do, have the cheapest of the 3 AS1 cars...if you look at it that way, it works. |

For me, the extra $3,300 from the FR-S to the BRZ Limited is justified. If you break down the options and what it would cost to add these things later (some of which I wouldn't even try to add, like leather/alcantara seats and keyless access) it makes plenty of sense. Those people who don't need any of the extras will be happy with the FR-S. Stock-for-stock, your car will be a hair faster because it weighs less! |
I put my money down on a scion and I'm sticking with it. Nav is pointless since I have an iOS device. I'll get updates faster and already have it in my car for music.
HIDs I'll do aftermarket. The rest is just fluff to me. I'm just bouncing off the walls waiting for the car. Can has be having it meow? |
