I'm from Switzerland too, thanks for the info, I'll check a Toyota dealer :w00t:

Toyota Dealer, same one I bought my car from. They have a really good Chief Mechanic dealing with this stuff.
They had no clue about the armrest first, however after providing them with the toyota parts code they had all infos they needed to order it and getting it out to me quiet fast

In advance of the 22 we'll be receiving on Friday, he sent me three for the first three names on the list. Does anyone see a problem here?

Oooouuuhhh ooouuuuhhhh...........:confused0068:

Hanakuso 04-01-2013 11:04 AM

Jpit did you notice the color of the screws?

jpit 04-01-2013 11:39 AM

The color of the screws is still silver. Also I noticed that they are silver on the RHD models that they are getting in the UK. We should be able to find some caps that fit in the screw holes.

Caps are a good idea. Another idea would be to plasti-dip the screw heads after installation if we can't find the right size caps. Tape off everything else and spray them. It would only really matter if you had to take the screws out, and how often would that be?

Were all three of those armrests RHD, or just one? Do you know if the rest of the 25 are LHD?

microbionic 04-01-2013 12:07 PM

the screws dont bother me, in fact I rarely open the armrest....

larryt1026 04-01-2013 01:11 PM

how do we get a hold of this? would really like one. although I am scared of drilling in my brz..

That could be potentially mine??? I am #2 on the waiting list.

Edit: Ah crap, just noticed it's an RHD.

Very anxious... JPit thanks for keping us updated.

I guess that means I shouldn't hold my breath to receive this by middle of April?

+1

Hix 04-01-2013 01:51 PM

I guess that makes me more comfortable about being #4 on the list seeing the RHD pictures.

jpit 04-01-2013 01:52 PM

The big problem with this post is not that it is a RHD unit. The problem is the guy from the Czech Rep. who verified the shipment spelled his name backwards.

Tricky, tricky.

zzabbas 04-01-2013 02:23 PM

Any word from Toyota EMEA and/or CTP on the mistake?

Instead of 25 are they sending you 50? or Do you get to keep the RHD Ones?

That damn "Lirpa Sloof" is at it again.

Hanakuso 04-02-2013 05:58 PM

Anyone have installed pictures from the passenger side? I'm a little worried we will have similar problems like the RHD armrest.

Flexing when it's closed due to the hinges. These pictures are taken from the UK forum.

If you install it by taking it apart, i doubt it will do it. I think they left the two hinge side screws out. give me 5 mins and ill post up. mines been installed for weeks now.

I think almost everyone on that board is having the same issue. The first picture I posted seems to be on the extreme side. If taking it apart fixes the problem, maybe someone should inform those guys.

I'm saying take it apart to install like I mentioned in the first post

Hanakuso 04-02-2013 06:49 PM

Awesome. Looks like the way to install would be to disassemble it then.

Actually not too sure about that. It seems this member did the same as you but still had flexing.

I've fitted mine today and I'm afraid to say that mine is exactly the same as lukester's.....should have read his thread before drilling mine as I was thinking this was how it was but couldn't understand why you would need them (i.e. why it states thing in the instructions)....plus....did any of you need to remove the padded arm rest to screw in 2 of the screws? There was no way of putting in the 2 screws by the hinge, weather the arm rest was up or down, so I've had to unscrew the padded part from the plastic frame.

like i said, take it apart to install the hinge side screws :party0030:

im glad they can correct this now. hopefully the plastic has not stresses too much and they can install them without permanent damage.

edit: ah, i understand your concern. ctp parts is replacing units that exhibit issues according to this thread:

http://www.gt86ownersclub.co.uk/foru...09_page31.html

zc06_kisstherain 04-02-2013 07:03 PM

looks great but I don't see myself spending about $180 for this armrest

It seems at least the guy with the worse looking flex found a solution. If i'm understanding correctly, it's not a design flaw, it's just the way they were assembled was flawed.

Success

http://www.gt86ownersclub.co.uk/foru...est-fixed.jpeg

Took the pad off, pressure where the arrows are and bent it. There was a thud as something located properly...

(I was actually trying to bend it sufficiently to get the lid off the frame as the hinge pins wouldn't budge.)

Calum 04-02-2013 08:28 PM

Just ordered mine today, direct from CTP to Canada. The group buy wouldn't have saved me anything so I just waited a little for things to calm down and see some install pics.
Thanks @jpit for bringing this to our attention!!
