Jeez the thing i love most about the BRZ is the color options, Satin white pearl, WRC blue... err

Zaku 12-02-2011 02:10 PM

WRCII Blue, Plasma Blue,Lighting Red, Dark Gray Metallic, Satin White Pearl,Obsidian Black, Ice Silver Metallic.

That's my prediction for the 7 colors, I hope that's accurate crossing my fingers for plasma blue. I also hope SCION is using their own colors and not the Subaru just because I want some differences. But for sure they don't have Plasma and WRCII

Longhorn248 12-02-2011 02:12 PM

WRCII Blue is the color shown at TMS right?

It's the one shown on the BRZ sti in LA but I think it's on the one in TMS too, they say it's new but I can't tell the diff between that and the current WRB Blue in the current WRX. Let me get a comparison picture up in a sec here.

and

What's the big diff? lol

LeeT 12-02-2011 02:15 PM

You've done well Hong

Longhorn248 12-02-2011 02:20 PM

They look pretty much the same to me. Exactly the color I want.

Welcome to the forum. :happy0180:

Some of us old guys and gal are just a little frustrated with newbs registering and posting BS rumors...I apologize for the rude welcome but now you know: don't post anything before you confirm that you can post the source.

Other than that, I appreciate the info and hope that you have thick enough skin to stick around and be a productive member of our group.

In 2006 yes, but the STI Limited in 2007 you couldn't, and the 2008-2010 with silver BBS wheels couldn't get blue either (which changed in 2008 also) so maybe he's thinking of one of those particular combinations.

I so wish they'd exchange that ugly SWP for Aspen White. SWP looked HORRIBLE on STIs.. hopefully it looks better on the BRZ.

Soravia 12-02-2011 02:24 PM

I dig the blue and satin white. Let's wait and see how low is the low price point for BRZ. It might be worth the money if the quality of the materials match the price. As daily driver, quality seat and touch materials (dash, armrest, etc) really matters.

It's not bad to maintain, but it's not the greatest. It gets the usual swirls and chips easily, typical Subaru paint. It's a dark color so the dirt stands out more than world rally blue, but if I keep up on my weekly washes it always looks good.

Not to hijack the thread, but these give a good idea of what the color looks like:

Depending on the light it can look purple, blue, or even black.

The lack of foglights, navigation, and automatic climate control indicate Scion is looking to keep the base car's pricing down. Buyers will likely be able to choose the options they want at the dealer level a la carte so they can personalize their FR-S, much as Scion does for the rest of its lineup. We'd be surprised if the FR-S is more than $25,000 to start -- it could possibly be less

The White BRZ at TMS is pretty much SWP as we all argued about it for about two days. I think we're sure it's SWP by now.....Looks nice to me what does Aspen White look like?

First post, been lurking for a while. Just saw this from a reliable source (Motor Trend editor-in-chief) and thought I'd share it.
  • Subaru BRZ should go on sale in May 2012
  • starting price around $24k for Premium and about $27k for Limited.
  • BRZ Premium model which includes standard navigation, eight-speaker audio, soft touch dash, limited slip differential, leather-wrapped steering wheel (tilt-telescopic), shift knob and e-brake lever, six-speed manual, aluminum pedal covers and cruise control, among other standard features.
  • BRZ Limited model adds leather seats with Alcantara trim, fog lamps, rear deck spoiler, 17-inch rims and vented discs (16" front, 15" rear)
  • Subaru expects sales of 3-4K/yr
  • According to Subaru a key difference between BRZ and Toyota 86/Scion FR-S are firmer front and softer rear spring rates for the BRZ

I'll take mine in WRB with gold BBS wheels from the aftermarket.

This is FACT people. I told you guys the price already and the weight. The production # is true also. The other info are gimmies, as the TMS unveiling had 8 speakers(look at the dash components) and other options mentioned.

This info was released months ago at the internal showing.

Zaku 12-02-2011 02:39 PM

I'm sorry everyone I made a mistake, The new BRZ color is called WRBII and not WRC blue, I went back and read the press release at LA and it says that. Sorry. Now... still what's the diff? LOL here's the thread from LA with the Press release.

JALOPNIK has also weighed in one this:

Thanks for the information Hong! :happy0180: So it makes sense that the BRZ will be more expensive than the FR-S.

It didn't feel like going through 7 pages of :bs:!

GrimmSpeed 12-02-2011 02:42 PM

Very good news for sure. Being overpriced would have made the excitement gone down hill really quickly. It is hard to trust any of the news that is coming out right now but this sounds legit.

Sparkplug 12-02-2011 02:48 PM

I'd be ok with these prices, probably going to end up with the limited model, or a high spec premium sans navigation.

anyone else pick up on that? its not actually possible to fit that big of a brake in that size wheel, plus its downright unnecessary.

The price makes perfect sense. Now, I can see the FR-S a little below about 22k-23k.

If the FR-S is comes in at only $1,000-1,500 cheaper than the BRZ then I am going to have to change my mind and join the Subaru camp.

c0rbin 12-02-2011 02:57 PM

Looks like good news to me... I'm expecting the Scion FR-S to be around $21k.

Guff 12-02-2011 02:58 PM

This makes me really optimistic! Even if it's a little different, I am satisfied. Now I need to make up my mind between BRZ and FRS!

What happened to project Xenon headlight and LED DR lights? Anyone knows?

I agree that it will be SWP.. and it doesn't look bad in pics.

google of 2006 white stis (which were aspen): http://www.google.com/search?q=2006+...w=1920&bih=875

I was looking at buying a new STI in 06/07, I waiting to long to see what 07 would bring. There were literally 7 aspen white STIs at local dealers when the 07s hit, I went to see the 07 and hated the color in comparison (and I normally like nice white pearls, it was either the color or just how it looked on the STI). All of a sudden all of those Aspen White STIs were gone. A buddy bought one of them so I was able to have him go to the dealer to see them side by side.. the Aspen looked so much nicer.

The aspen itself is more of a normal "bland" white, no pearl, etc... but it definately fit the STI body a lot better. The gold wheels in particular looked hideous on SWP STIs.

Not to mention the FR-S even has 4 wheel vented discs.. again guys.. a bus sized grain of salt is useful here.. JDMers measure brake rotors by the minimum wheel size required to clear the rotors.. in that sense, 16/15 sounds right. In terms of actual size I'd guess that they are the same as the WRX fronts (11.6"). The rears are a question mark though, the WRX aren't vented... STI is but I doubt they are using the 13"F and 12.6" rears from the STI.. it'd be awesome of they did though.. big heatsinks FTW :)

I would assume they're just not mentioned, probably coming standard looking at the possible options.

DuMa 12-02-2011 03:15 PM

WRX brakes would be more than adequate to stop this car. STI/Brembos would be nice but i think overkill for street and moderate track use.

Dragonitti 12-02-2011 03:17 PM

I'm so glad the Scion is just a base since I want it to be the least amount of weight possible, and the Scion has that one. 2800lbs is a little on the heavy side for the BRZ.

Zaku 12-02-2011 03:17 PM

Okie just to clarify, what am I getting for a Premium model? what does it come with? What do I get in addition for the Limited Model?

Dave-ROR 12-02-2011 03:17 PM

Ok just checked the Legacy 2.5GT/3.6R (specifically those two models).. 12.4" and 11.4" rear, both vented.. so perhaps they are using Legacy 2.5GT/3.6R brakes. If the Legacy uses 2 piston front sliders then maybe this car will be rocking brakes that are used to easily stop ~3500lb cars.. that would be PLENTY of brake for everyone until you are pushing an insane amount of power with long track sessions braking from high speeds.. They could also be mixing, WRX front/Leg GT rears, etc.. I'm sure they spent plenty of time setting up the bias/brake balance correctly so whatever they used will work fine.

I doubt it'll be more than 50lb difference.. and that's on the high side IMO unless there's non-obvious features that are different. Subaru's averaged weight in the press release was less than 2700 IIRC.

They'll be fine for wheel to wheel racing let alone just moderate track use (and anyone who thinks they need to be upgraded for the street is out of their mind, unless it's just for the looks).

They'll be perfectly fine until you can get enough top speed that the heatsinks simply won't be large enough to hold enough heat from the repeated high speed braking on the track. With the powertrain that's in this car that won't happen anywhere near stock.

JohnnyR 12-02-2011 03:22 PM

Eww at 2770lbs. I figured in the end it would come up to 2800lbs. I'll be waiting on the FI versions of these cars.
