IMO, cars look best stock..with the exception of wheels and tint. So, I would tint the windows and throw on a turbo/supercharger once available if this car ends up not being offered with one from the factory.

aliphian 03-18-2011 02:39 AM

I'm going to order this body kit.

My first mod would be a radar detector.

Valentine One? It seems to be a very popular choice.

Zaku 03-18-2011 08:48 AM

First Thing I changed on my last car was a Flywheel and Clutch, but I'm expecting FT86 to come with a light Fly and a good Clutch ... Hoping it's an Exedy. I like Light flywheels because of how fast it make engines rev, but for my first mod here...hmm... if it's not Intake it's definitely wheels. I have this order of things I get, and I kept to the order for my last 3 cars.

Mr.Jay 03-18-2011 03:23 PM

leave her as she is for a bit then most likely tyres and wheels (summer mode) keep stock as winter mode

Midship Runabout 03-18-2011 03:38 PM

Come to think of it, I can't recall a factory shift knob a actually like. Also depending on the throw, a short shifter

98 red stitched SW20 knob. if you don't like that, i think you're not allowed to own an MR2? :iono:

lol, j/k. but that's the knob i have on my MR2 and i can't think of anything i'd rather have.

That was the exact shift knob that came to my mind. I bought one a couple years ago for our old 98 Celica as it was what came in SS-iii Celicas from 98-99. I still have it sitting in it's original bag, never been installed.

The Supra came with a similar one as well...but obviously had 6 gears instead of 5 on the top.

Archer256 03-18-2011 08:06 PM

Considering it's a Toyota...they better offer a good sound system anyway dammit

Will it even be stick? Could be shifters for all we know....stick is dying

I've never actually touched one so I can't say... I enjoy my twosrus white ball though.

excuse the dirty interior, but there it is! TRD lever, brass base and cable bushings, 98 knob, redline boot.

Mr.Jay 03-19-2011 04:17 AM

^ need to do some dusting of the dash there XD

Fortunate Few 03-19-2011 04:49 AM

wheels/tires
then coilovers
then probably tint
straight pipe
exhaust

Midship Runabout 03-19-2011 11:26 AM

Ya I know what they look like, I have never used one. But they do look great don't get me wrong.

Giccin 03-19-2011 11:37 AM

Wheels. Tires. Tint. Will decided on coilovers after a few rides in the canyon and track *possibly*.

At some point.. I was also thinking of adding a little design onto my car so it looks different. lol

FT-86GOD 03-19-2011 11:42 AM

Already voted. But "one" of my first mods will be converting to a Nardi steering wheel with boss kit..

yeah, i figured you already knew. i just like to post it because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, ha.

1GoZoom 03-19-2011 12:59 PM

In this order: Intake, Straight Pipes, Cams (if they come out quickly), SS brake lines and larger rotors, sways and coilovers, TWM shifter (already trying to get them to make a full replacement), tune to bring it all out.

Not bad at all. MR2s have cockpits very similar to Miatas. I'm hopping in a Wankel 13B swapped Miata in about an hour and cruising the day away.

Here's my ride and shifter setup.
http://cobaltss.net/gallery/files/5/...9/still_4.jpeg

TWM Stage II shifter. TWM Brass Bushings and cable adapter. I thought about upgrading knobs, but I like the leather knob and I can just switch to their Type-R knob that's in my other car if I really cared.

I have an STI Driver from BELTronics. Best investment ever.

Zenrael 03-19-2011 02:44 PM

Wheels aren't even on my list because I go for power instead of looks. I'm not a fan of donks, ty.

Wheels aren't only for the looks. If that was the case, most race cars don't have after market LIGHTWEIGHT & WIDER wheels. :)

But they are so EXPENSIVE! If I can scrounge up $3500 soon after I get my FT, I will get some TE37's. :sigh:

There are some wheels that are lighter than stock wheels that isn't Volks... but I gotta say, Volks do make sweet wheels.

impulse 03-19-2011 07:03 PM

Voted for wheels.

I'm thinking Advans, more specifically TCIIs. I haven't decided what color though, but that completely depends what color I even get the FT86 in.

Levi 06-02-2011 03:36 PM

Here the list:

-Volk lightweight racing rims
-Nitto tires
-racing coilovers front and rear
-Brembo GTR brakes
-CF cold air intake
-free flow catless exhaust system (Titanium)

-if OEM quality CF roof, hood, bootlid and maybe doors and inner pannels

Probably more after knowing all details when the car is released.

Maybe displacement increase but for sure no turbo.

Ryephile 06-02-2011 04:21 PM

I'm going to wait until the weak points are determined, then wait until there is enough aftermarket support to select the best engineered solution. If no suitable solution exists, I'll get off my duff and make it happen with the resources I have.

chulooz 06-02-2011 04:59 PM

Wheels, tints, and a nice Ti exhaust should happen pretty quickly for me.

I'm gonna have to roll with you on this one... I'll probably wait & see what comes out afterwards too.

You gonna make those in your backyard?

Not that I'm actually going to get one, but it would be wheels, drop and flush (not, not "hella" flush) for me. Most important 3 mods for any car. :)

iff2mastamatt 06-05-2011 11:47 AM

Tires all the way!

TRDChamp 06-11-2011 03:51 AM

Will probably leave it stock for a bit until we get a good selection of aftermarket parts.

Omerta 06-11-2011 01:35 PM

Hard to say right now....HOWEVER, I would go straight for new tires and wheels.
Perhaps a TBE + downpipe and CAI or short ram and aftermarket fogs and I'll make em my DRLs.

Obviously I'll have to wait and see the complete specs of the car upon it's release.

Laika 06-11-2011 02:29 PM

In this order

-Tint (and maybe doing the tails too)
-Black badges/removing stupid ones like the dealer stickers
-Short shifter/new shift knob
-Winter tires (seeing as the cars 'supposedly' coming out in november of 2012)
-Summer wheels/tires (some light 17's probably)
-Tein coilovers
-EDFC integrated into my console so it looks stock
-Sway bars once there are some good ones out
