At least with the next-gen 86, it will definitely be offered with a manual since the take rate was so high on the first-gens.

If it isn't a hybrid!

This is correct. new intake won't gain 5hp. It's due to other component that make MY17 feels like gaining more power.

If I wanna upgrade the intake manifold, I want this... but of course, it's impossible to get one Orz

Still wondering why they didn't use this manifold and designed a new one ...

Pardon my ignorance but does the grmn market 86 have a higher output than ours?

Yeah 15~25hp-ish. That's cuz of aggressive cams and ECU remap

There was a manual option, but it's like putting lipstick on a pig IMO.

The CR-Z is an ambitious attempt at making a sporty hybrid, but its performance doesn’t match its adventurous styling. The good news is that it’s the only hybrid sold with a manual—a six-speed—but the bad news is that the combined output is a mere 130 hp. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder pairs with an electric motor; the EPA rates it for 36-mpg city/39-mpg highway with the optional CVT; the manual gets 31/38. Standard features include Bluetooth capability, automatic climate control, and cruise.

216hp to be exact (219ps stated on the brochure), and 217nm of torque. All thanks to both intake and exhaust headers plus ECU tuning, that variable intake must do a very good job eliminating the torque dip for good. And it even has forged internals!

It's a shame the FA20-GR engine didn't make it into the new models, but i guess costs and emissions are at fault.

Maybe an engine cover that's coming out next year?

Almost looks like its sourced from another model.

sw22 10-03-2016 02:00 AM

Does anyone have the Toyota part number for the intake?

jort88 10-06-2016 12:46 AM

It's subaru only, and the part # is 14001AC540

It is not Subaru only, Toyota 86 Manuals have it too, but I don't believe Toyota started listing parts for the 17 yet.

Agreed. Needs some sort of plastic "Boxer" cover like the previous intake to look like it belongs.

The red manifold with the black engine cover from the earlier cars would look good.

Da Brz 10-13-2016 10:37 AM

Looking online at a parts supplier, 14001AC540 is listed as a direct fit for 6MT MY17 BRZs but also 6MT MY16s, too. But it only lists the MY16 Premium. Not the Limited.

Hmm.

I'd like to make the swap just to see what happens.

Take it back to the dealer and complain. Actually if you take it back to the right dealer they will probably be baffled where all that stuff went.

I also just realized that it says "Due at Inception" so I gotta wait until an AWD BRZ is born first to put a down on it? lol!

fuddbutter 10-20-2016 12:55 AM

Anyone who has bought one of these, any chance you could get me the measurements of the box? and approx weight?

Just want to work out how much shipping to Aust would be.

Thanks!

FT86 Speed Factory has the new manifold for sale -

http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/suba...l#.WBC6TCTWFb8

Zaku 10-26-2016 11:00 AM

Nice that you can now buy em!

I know there was some testing done on the new manifold alone in the older cars. didn't it come to like 1whp gain? and something else smaller that would almost make it insignificant if your car is NA and doesn't have the other improvements the 17 has? it's in another thread (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111954) here I think. I can also see that it could possibly offer some more in maybe turbo cars. But if your car is stock and you're thinking of getting a 410$ manifold for improve HP and looks(don't forget you'll need a tune). I think the $400 are better spent elsewhere...then again you might gain more than that 1whp and 2wtq.. depending on other factors added along with manifold.

Nigelr32 11-04-2016 05:20 AM

Is this definitely the right part number for the Ali inlet guys?? I just ordered one from Subaru and am worried I may receive a plastic one if this number is incorrect?

Have you noticed it's red...cool.

I have just ordered one for my project car for a few reasons. The plastic manifold is crap. It has unequal runner lengths, is torturous for airflow just behind the throttle body, it can't be modified and it may well split if it is subjected to big boost from my GTX3071r.

The beauty of the Ali manifold is that it can be reshaped and refinished to give improved airflow, it is more rigid so will handle any level of boost it is subjected to and can be machined to fit alternative injectors if required.

It is also very red, which doesn't matter much to me as I shall be blasting it off.

Mim 02-13-2017 03:22 AM

Just wondering. Would there be any fitment issues if I were to install the new red manifold onto my A/T MY15 BRZ?

I noticed it just cropped up on https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/50043 and felt tempted!

Also if staying NA would there be any benefit to fitting Crawford power blocks in conjunction with it? Yes I am looking to have a custom tune done at the same time.

2017-BRZ 02-15-2017 03:18 PM

I read the 2017 specs included newly revised exhaust manifold.

Does this mean I can negate purchase of after market headers when I decide on a tune? (Unless UEL is of greater performance benefit.)

Furthermore, will a tune even as simple as a stage 1 provide even greater performance benefit considering the 2017 much revised factory modifications?:party0030:

Neiman 02-28-2017 05:41 PM

If anyone is interested, I just purchased the 2017 intake manifold along with the grams throttle body. I am currently running a JRSC C38 kit along with full header back exhaust. Once I have it on and tuned I'll keep you updated

Do you need new gaskets for the 17 intake manifold and if so which ones do you get?

guybo 01-26-2018 12:03 PM

Toyota only provided the upgraded engine on the Manuals because they know that if you really cared, you'd buy a manual. If you bought a slushbox, you won't really care or notice.
