Wondering if the Berk Hi-flow cat on the BRZ will pass? Anyone try yet?

Some techs might not go into details and check everything one by one and see if the aftermarket part has a label on it. That's just your luck.

Don't think so. Not sure if a tune gets the CEL off and all readiness monitors ready or not. But if a tune does turn the CEL off and the monitors stay incomplete then no it wont pass.

A tune can/will (specifically Open Flash Tune) turn off the CEL for running a catless setup. So it should pass right? I assume you had a typo in your second line.

not a typo. what I was saying is if the CEL is off but the readiness monitors are incomplete then it will still fail.

So pretty much stock header with no cat is gonna fail even if you have a tune that gets rid of the CEL.

Lol damn I thought I found a work around :mad0259:

Man I am so happy I live in Alberta!

Guess I will have to swap back to the OEM inlet tube, complete with retarded noise generator. So stupid.

Yes we check to make sure all components are in place.

Most techs now days do go by the book. reason being is because the state has been coming down on us all and watching us like a hawk. They shut down 4 shops locally here for not following the book so I dont most places will close their eyes on it

Unless someone tried it for a test, I doubt it. We're exempt for 6 years, so the 2012's won't require it until 2019. I wonder if you get a fix it ticket for being too loud if they could force you to get a smog check early? Seems unlikely.

I thought about doing that type of mod since I wouldn't have to undo it for at least another 5 years or so. It'd suck after that to have to reset everything every other year though.

The state has been talking about changing the 6 year rule to either 3-4 years. Nothing is set for sure. But they are discussing it with shops. Also its mostly for the out of state guys. Us CA guys don't need smog for 6 years but no matter how old a car is out of state requires smog regardless
