Whaddya mean, works great. I get home from work before I left. Sounds good in theory, til it's time to go to work again. I need it to reset it to land on weekends only.

I despise the thing! Before I knew it existed I thought I spent a lot of money on a crappy sounding exhaust upgrade. Never heard it with the stock air filter but with the TRD drop in it sounded like the car would gasp in surprise every time I floored it!

The weight for all those parts makes your car slower. It doesn't even make it sound faster! An overly complex solution for some unnecessary crude noises.
Money would have been better spent on a nicer sounding factory exhaust with descent looking tips.

I beg to differ .....

Going ..... yunnn ..... yunnn ..... on my tri-cycle made IT go faster and putting a playing card in the spokes of my bicycle made IT go faster ...... therefore ……

I've read that for better HP performance it's a good idea to leave the resonator on with a new induction hose. Is this true?

Absolutely no power gained or lost by this junk. As somebody said before it is the mechanical equivalent of going VROOOM VROOOM with your lips.
If you delete do make sure you plug the hole with something that won't get sucked in otherwise you are just sucking unfiltered air. There are at least half a dozen good threads on here on what to do.

Nice interstate cruiser.. 77k sticker..

This is why if you're fortunate enough to have two cars, you drive the big German twin turbo V8 (or supercharged V8, or twin turbo V12, or...) during the week as a comfy cruiser, and keep the Toyobaru as a weekend fun car :) Severely-depreciated German cars are awesome as long as you either have a fat wallet and/or the tools and know-how to keep them running without going to the stealership :)

That sound tube? Yanked that sh!t out a long time ago...

"Mishimoto engineers recommend using the Mishimoto intake tube with the OEM resonator
installed and the noise amplifier deleted. This setup provided the best HP and TQ as well as
the lowest noise in the cabin."

Their numbers from dyno runs report a 3 WHP hit removing the resonator. Guess it does matter. :eyebulge:

AHHH Yes the engineers that make the after market part say that you will get more HP based on their dyno results. Never heard that before!

The resonator DOES NOT change your horsepower in any way. Their claim is that their intake tube gives 3 more WHP NOT the resonator!

The sound tube and resonator are just a big kazoo for noise only.

There are many threads on here that explain that just take a look!

They did dyno runs with and without and posted the results. But looks like I'll just have to do my own tests to be certain. I've read lot of things, half say doesn't do ****, half say it cuts down on pressure wave harmonics.

DUDE you are missing the point!!!!!
The increase is for the INTAKE PIPE not the resonator.
Anyway an increase of 3 WHP on a dyno is almost impossible to attribute to one thing. Did they have exactly the same weather conditions, fuel, etc.????
Of course a manufacturer is going to say they got an increase.
If resonators could increase WHP there would be a raft of people posting "WOW just got the ultra super racing resonator and now I can take on Porsches". To date I seem to have missed these posts.

If you really think that a resonator is a great mod for WHP let's meet up on the track and race for pinks OK?
