i should be a bit more clear.

Drive away price for all dealers at the same state must be the same.

manufacturers must put the drive away price on their website (slightly different for each state due to the diff in stamp duty and rego). that's the final maximum price for the state that you entered your postcode.

for example, a white Prius V in Sydney is $40,066.74 drive away. melbourne is $39,483.20, brisbane is $39,313.90 etc. these are the max you pay at that state. manufacturer recommended retail is still $35,990 across the country.

so if i go to any QLD dealer to buy a white Prius V, they cannot charge me more than $39,313.90. but they can certainly give me discount.

this is new law that started in 1 Jan 2011 i think and i think it's a good thing as each dealer can't charge different delivery charge.

ps. i used the term RRP a bit loosely when i should have just said drive away price.

Cheers mate :D
What I said before, about being reasonable, I meant for driveaway prices ;)

The other thing is the press is still quoting RRP (not driveaway) as on road cost for each state is different and they can't cater for everyone.

Considering an Scion xB is about 17-18 k in the US and a base model Rukus RRP is 27,490 here in oz, does anyone think Toyota would use roughly the same price gap and a 86 would be say 36-37 K RRP ?

Yep that's what most of us have been predicting over here (for the GT MT model of course).

One more sleep.......will I have a new car or a European used????

Counting sheep ....... Looking at car reviews ...... Want to look at extras /mods for the 86 not much point just yet.

Waiting ....waiting .....
I think it would be really cool, if toyota had something special for the customers that buy the first batch of 86's........don't know, a cool jacket, hat, something.

No I haven't either....... I have seen a few m3 2005 - 2006 models that looks promising. Still it's going to be around the 40,000 mark. But saying that it's rear wheel drive, LSD and 250 kw of the good stuff. Will need some work on it though ..... Thats the problem.......I really want the 86 but realistically I need some good change from $40,000 to get the extras I need to make the car mine.
If they bring out a supercharger for the 86 it would compete with every other car out there hands down.
I would like to put some money away just for that if nothing else.

I went past the Toyota dealership at sutherland , Sydney after a trip to bunnings. I knew it was going to be a laugh. Thought why not. Guy said they have 30 pre-orders. Their demo cars are coming in August and he said that they haven't released price yet. He had no idea it was being released tomorrow. Ohh geez . What a waste of time.

I'm still hoping for a early July pre-order delivery. Hoping. Let's see what happens at 10am tomorrow.

Told my wife, if the price is not what I want that I will keep my st162 celica3sge for parts and buy a st165 gt4 celica for 7-10k. I was told , " no way, get the 86, I don't want u fixing 20 year old piece of sh*t toyota cars forever !!! " .

I said ok, thanks . Lol
