Smart decision! I'm with you on the bleeding heart thing. I always give people the benefit of the doubt but after dealing with people outside of insurance enough times, it never really worked out in my best interest. You're paying for insurance, use it :P Hope they don't give you too much trouble. |
By the looks of it, you probably didn't get hit at even 30mph. Good thats its all getting properly looked at now though.

Insurance did not give me to much trouble. I had a police report, saw a doctor, and contacted my family lawyer, so the documentation was there, just not reported to them directly.
I may have been hit at less than 30 mph but the truck behind me, a small mazda b2300 or whatever, did not brake until he was maybe 3 car lengths behind me. I was about to make a lane change and caught him out of the corner of my eye in the rear view mirror, saw him look up and open his mouth as he slammed on the brakes. His truck ended up much worse than the BRZ. I passed him maybe a minute or two before going around 65 and he was going 55. Could have been worse. Ill keep everyone posted as the weekend roles around. |

I am very pleased to hear that you are doing this. I don't feel bad when someone is irresponsible enough to hit me. This is why we have insurance, and this is why dumbass kids buy insurance -- use it because if they even CARED one bit, you would not be hit at all. People make mistakes, but it's always out of carelessness. I'm not being biased towards the kid, whatever story it is -- there is always something that caused the catalyst and it's just absolute -- carelessness on one's part. I'm glad all is going well -- and please definitely get yourself checked out properly. Seeing this last post makes everyone in the forums a bit happier since you're doing what you can. ^_^ let us know the outcome afterwards. Glad you're okay overall!! Judging by the photos -- this is at least a 3-4k job (labor included) Not much was damaged and most of all of the items needs replacing (especially the protector.) |
glad you contacted insurance and all, but I wouldnt feel too bad for the kid. I mean its like a lesson to drive safer and more careful next time. Sure we were all there at one point, but some people have to learn somehow so stuff like this doesnt happen again. Just my 2 cents

its good you are doing better. sometimes this type of accident seems minor but the post-accident impact tends to become a long term pain if not treated right.
car can be fixed, parts can be replaced but your body definitely did not appreciate that. hope you recover well from the accident and have ur doc check you through carefully. take it easy and hope u are back on the road in no time. get well soon! |
soft tissue damage can take 2-3 days to feel. So you need to get checked out. I got checked out by a chiropractor and it took 2 1/2 months to get my back completely back to normal. I got an attorney, and after paying the chiropractor and my attorney i had almost 7,000 dollars in pain and suffering and missing work/events. I would definitely get checked out.

My left shoulder still hurts a week later. I had my seat belt on and i held on to the wheel with my left hand so i could angle away from the car in front of me. The combination of the two really did me in. Mobility is getting better though.
Picking up a Cat-back exhaust today though :happyanim: so when I go to get my car fixed up I can have it installed!!! :burnrubber: |
