Another guy from this forum was kind enough to give me his OEM tow hook. Now I have two. I'm guessing you could find some OEM hooks for free, too. Just ask around.

I have a hook from some Chinese brand I paid $15 for.for my s2k And it works (had to use it once at track). The ones they offer for the frs is the same. It looks same and is like $80. Price gouge I tell you.

I want to buy an expensive RaceEng tow hook for $175. My biggest concern is that someone might steal it and my $175 just evaporates before my eyes. Is this a real concern?

I remember my early days of going to car shows where poor high school students would steal shift knobs out of peoples cars. I always keep my windows up for that reason.

It could happen but I doubt it would happen on a track day or autox day. I would say to not let those worries get to you.

i never understood the desire for expensive aftermarket tow hooks.

i can have the same bling with a rattle can and the oem hook, but then having the tow hook installed all the time means to be prepared to be towed because the car would be unreliable...

Walk into an oem tow hook at oh dark thirty before a track event and you'll understand exactly why people look for alternatives to the oem hook.

Finding out what you need is easy.

Look at your series technical regulations.

Should go something like this >

17. Towing Eyes (except for Tour)
To facilitate the recovery of a vehicle, towing eyes shall be fitted front and rear complying with the following:
I. Internal diameter of at least 40mm;
II. Fitted forward of the front axle and rearwards of the rear axle;
III. Clearly visible in yellow, orange or red, the chosen colour being in contrast to the bodywork;
IV. Tow hooks provided by the manufacturer of the car as a standard fitment may be used.

So, if it's a track car, bolt on whatever

If it's a street car, there is one in the boot to put on if you need too.

Or, if your all F&F, do whatever floats your boat in the knowledge that every track car is laughing at your "trying too hard" street car
