What you’ve described is a fast driver… a safe driver, on the track or on the street, is one that is aware of their surroundings and reacts accordingly. This means only 3 things: looking forward, looking back and connecting the dots. An M3 in your rear view mirror for the last 30 seconds? Give him room, point-by pass, assist in making a safe pass if a turn is coming up. See three cars bombing into a corner up ahead? Be ready for anything. See a dust cloud up ahead? Someone probably went off the track, be ready for debris. Where are the marshals? Are they waving any flags? Etc etc. You don’t need to know car control techniques to stay safe on the track. You need car control techniques to be safe AND fast on the track. |
