Did you get it yet???? :)

mattles 05-10-2012 09:30 PM

as soon as Im out of the office, Ill be on my way to bring it home for good. Had to skip out on the dealer party because things are wayyyyy too hectic this week at work for me to fit in some fun time.

Thats OK, the real party will be all weekend since everyone I know wants to come check it out. Plus Ive had several invites to bring it to events/shops/etc around the valley. Sunday especially looks busy as far as the FR-S is concerned.

Took real delivery, I played with the radio for over an hour (way to complicated, but got bluetooth and ipod all working so I can play whatever music I want from wherever.)

I got hosed on my trade-in since it was a modified car, yea whatever. Most BORING dealer experience of my life since there was no negotiating to be done. Pure pricing on most everything, even the GAP, etc-- and they wouldnt budge on my tradein and lowballed the shit out of me, but such is life of signing my soul over to a huge corporation such as Toyota.

I will probably never buy another toyota/scion car ever again, atleast from any dealership in Arizona. Im even more jealous of the guy from Longo Scion since it sounds like he was fully taken care of. -- but whatever I love this freaking car. I couldnt stop driving it today.

Wondering when/if I will ever get the FRS car cover and the carbon fiber license plate thingy...

Whatever, dont care, gonna go drive it some more.

considering there's high demand for the initial batch of frs/brz, the dealers know they have the upper-hand in trade-in values.

Do you have stock radio? or Bespoke? Because Bespoke looked quite easy to play with.

its the stock one, pain in the ass multi-knob. :|

However, I did get the welcome message on the radio setup and it reads 'Deliver Tofu' heh.

Found a very pretty yellow car, owned by a very cool guy. Tastefully modified, its immaculate.

That's an RS7.0 tC. Pretty nice Mods from the factory...

Trade in is a lowball at the best of times - advantage is you pick the day the car sells. Always sell 3rd party if you can, even if you end up having to rent for a week/month/borrow/bus.

It did see the track (thats Firebird International Raceway in the background) -- however it was there for show purposes only, Im being responsible and breaking in the car according to the manufacturers specs.

Im getting dozens of requests daily for me to parade the car around for other enthusiasts in the Phoenix Metro Area. This car draws crowds everywhere, get more positive comments than even my Miata, and people love to ask questions.

I also gave a few very ecstatic SCCA guys rides, and all of my passengers were very impressed with both the low speed handling and the composure of the car at highway speeds on long sweeping ramps.

The SCCA event pictured above was on Mothers Day morning, it was a special no-points AZ SOLO Autocross 'Fun Run' Day, with a somewhat special course layout on the skid pad. Bringing the FR-S down for people to check out in person was just an added special attraction for the morning.

Update from today, I took the car down to AIRAID Intake Systems here in Phoenix. They gave me a shop tour, drove around with me to take reading of stock fuel trim and removed my stock intake to throw it on their flow testing bench. After flow test was complete, I got the prototype intake installed on my car and we went out for another drive to test and take more measurements.

First impressions are that its definitely louder than stock, which is what I was looking for. Its a rapid-made prototype right now so it obviously looks a little rough and is subject to change. The end result though is something that should closely resemble stock which is perfect for me. When I return to their shop, they will be taking back-to-back dyno runs to directly compare the stock intake to their intake system to see how much power was picked up. Now obviously its a high strung 2.0L NA motor, we wont be seeing a huge power gain, but Airaid has a policy to not sell intakes that don't make any power gains, so thats cool.

One more unique thing I noticed about Airaid, they actually do 99.9% of their own work in house. I got to see mesh and filter media being made and cut to specs, injection-molded parts being completed and assembled, finished products being boxed up and shipped out. They really have a great work space, and its especially wonderful to see real quality work being done to produce high quality USA-made parts. The even have a laser engraving machine in house that they use to brand and label their products, its the little details.

I'll be updating further as I get more testing done see the final product.

And of course, free stuff. (not pictured, delicious free pizza.)
