I would think when they actually get there and that you would pre-order maybe 7 weeks prior.

I was told by the salesperson I have my deposit with that it would be 6-8 weeks after the order is placed to get the car. I'm thinking late March or early April for the actual pre-orders to take place.

That's what I'm hoping for as well.

Didnt want to create a new thread for this so ill just latch on to this one since it didnt get locked.

The general impression I'm hearing is that the BRZ/FRS will not be able to sell. just the impression I'm getting from talking to people at the DC auto show and browsing other car forums. We are all obviously biased, this is a BRZ forum however consider the following.

This car is obviously marketed towards a younger audience. Overall, an audience that doesn't have 23-28k to spend on a car. As the Yen has been up and the dollar down, the US starting price, will be hard to determine but basically, the car started out as a budget sports car that quickly cost a lot due to heavy development.

Now there has been a large spike of interest but thats all based off speculation with no price tag. After the initial burst of buyers, will this car continue to sell? In the 23-28k range there are lots of other options that arguably offer more bang for the buck that also appeal to a wider group of people. The 25k price range is a tricky demograph. Mostly 17-30 year olds that are either a true enthusiasts, or b have a good amount of disposable income. Thats a small niche. Now due to the so so interior, and un useable back seat, the other options are going to be strongly considered/ cross shopped. What are your guys thoughts? Will this car still sell after the initial bubble? Will we still see it in production 5 years from now? I'm not saying it wont, just striking up a talking point... since we still have 4 months to wait...

Probably half or more of the car enthusiasts I am friends with either plan to buy this car or are very interested in the car. It won't sell to non-enthusiasts but I'm assuming Subaru/Toyota already knew that.

Same here. I actually was really surprised, I went to a car show with some college friends, one of whom drives a Mustang GT with straight pipes. I never would've thought he would even consider the FRS but it turns out it was the one car he was hoping to see there and thinking of buying. I think they will sell plenty of them if it is cheap enough.

Ya price has a lot to do with it. My experience was different. The people at the auto show practically ran away when the guy said it will start around 25.

Zaku 01-31-2012 11:17 AM

Well I was told there that It would start around mid 20's but the model that was being shown was the higher tier so expect it to cost more. I'm just gonna sit n wait to see the numbers on a paper stuck to the side of the window on a lot. LOL

Longhorn248 01-31-2012 11:34 AM

If the BRZ starts closer to $28K I'll be looking at used 370's.

Zaku 01-31-2012 11:46 AM

Im gonna stick it out with these cars, lol but i do love 370z, gonna see if FRS and BRZ premium will be at least civic si level or TC level if it is or exceed ill get one if not i might up my game to limited, not in a hurry.
