So just to throw it out there... after giving a dollar to the idiot.

...when the first FRS is total'd... do we send beer to the first who gets first lick on spare parts?

But I like the idea just needs to be more formalized. For one thing, proof that the member in question is not at fault (which is hard to prove).

I can setup a public poll for a limited time (like 6 months from today) and that will keep the names of the people who voted for "Yes, I am in".
It's an honor system but it will be fun. Maybe totaling will be too difficult considering the small number of participants. How about just getting rear ended? Or a repair bill greater than $2000?

So, it goes like this:

"I was being a dangerous driving **** on public roads and manages to write off my brand new '86'

I think i deserve some reward for not treating it with respect and endangering others around me"

a dollar isnt much but why would i want to waste my money on something so... Stupid (for lack of a better word)

... Why is someone who crashes or totals their car a dumbass? Fake bad ass personas fill this forum. Accidents result in injury and sometimes death. I do hope that if a car is totaled out of ignorance that the driver learns their lesson and life moves on. If one is in need of charity or help from his fellow man then I see no problem with that. Sometimes money isn't the kind of help one needs.

Two nights ago while driving home in my WRX a black Scion tC blows pass me on the freeway. Moments later he slows down until he's next to me.. and then zooms off again. He then slows down and falls behind me and pulls up next to me matching my speed and then takes off again. Repeat x 5.

Like an annoying little bug. I just ignored him and drove my 70 mph till he disappeared for good.

If Scion FRS owners are going to be like this... I seriously am just going to blow my head off. :suicide: Please god I'll give $100 to the OP if he totals his FRS just to get ppl like that off the streets!

nrclptcnsmniak 01-05-2012 06:38 AM

^ sounds exaggerated. I know there are people like that which is why I am really glad I don't have my wrx anymore... I don't like the attention. Don't assume though that the first person who totals his car is an ass who drives like one. Accidents happen. And usually people that post stories like yours where they justify their "I never street race but I want a fast car and ricers surround me" are more than likely putting on a fake face.

Seriously? It's one thing to get t-boned at an intersection by some texting teenager. But anyone who totals their own car was driving like a dumbass. Whether it was through inattentiveness, driving too fast for the conditions, or driving at 11 tenths, there is no excuse for crashing a car.

I've never crashed a car, but I came damn close once and yeah, I was being a total dumbass at the time.

Sure, accidents happen and that sucks. I would argue that paying attention can avoid accidents that would otherwise not be your fault. In fact, in the case of many not at fault accidents there is a ton of preventive steps that could/should have been taken.

My other set of wheels is a motorcycle and you bet your ass I go far out of my way to avoid accidents with other motor vehicles. It doesn't comfort me any to know it wasn't my fault I'm injured or worse.

My concern with this car is that, as other have said, Cheap + RWD + Tuner appeal = a lot of wannabe racers wrecking on public streets driving like assholes. My bike's insurance costs in a year what the tC costs in 3 months and they are worth about the same.

The tC is expensive because there is a high accident rate and a high write off rate (many accidents result in totaled cars). I will be very upset if this car ends up the same way.

In other words, I hope no one crashes, but if they do there will be no compensation from me and depending on how the accident happens probably some stern words and animosity from my direction.

To certain point, I agree... But trust me, paying 100% attention on the road still can't avoid the accident. I got into car wreck/hit-&-run early last yr. The truck hit me from my blind spot. Also iirc Giccin got rear ended by someone who wasn't paying attention on the road. Those time, it doesn't matter if I'm paying attention, can't do shit. Gotta tell yourself "Shit happens, c'est la vie" & sue that asshole & move on lol

I did!

Now I need an MRI because doctors are scared that I may have a slipped disc/Torn Ligament between my vertebra T10-12-L1/L2.

If an idiot decides to total their car because of poor driving skills its their fault. I'd be FURIOUS if I had to donate $1 to stupidity.

yup, and there isnt any point in donating if it isnt the fault of the 86 owner because hopefully the 86 owner would be suing the ass off whoever crashed into them... as ichi said

Insurance for this car is going to be a bitch, I can just feel it.

ydooby 01-05-2012 01:54 PM

I hope there will be more than 25,000 willing participants so that I can do something TOTALLY stupid with my FR-S (so stupid that the insurance won't even cover) and still walk off with more money than I had.:D

:word:
Between the price this is set at and the average age on this site being about 24 I'd agree.
