Yep dealer asked me if I wanted to be put on the list to get my transmission replaced during my last service. I said yes and they said ok but they wanna keep my gt4 for about a week once the parts arrive and even worse is that the next available loaner was over a month out...

Ideally Id love to own the new Gt3.... but that’s out of my budget. Comes in Manual with the 500hp 4.0 with a 9 k redline. Makes my gt4 look like a toy.

So... you're kind of limited on the whole Porsche thing?

Dang these almost hurt to look at. a GT4 (981 or this 981.2/982 whichever you want to call it) is one of my dream cars, although certainly not a reasonably attainable one (356 speedster, and a 997GT3RS are the other two. None of them are reasonable, hahah). Weight/engine complaints aside, this looks fantastic, even if it doesn't get the GT3 engine.

The BRZ is actually my consolation prize for not being at "used Cayman" money yet, and it's reasonable fascimily as fary as driving style is why I got it. I'll be happy if i'm in a position to pick up a nice 986 S as a convertible cruiser in the next few years, hah.

Speaking as someone who is past Cayman money, the FRS is no consolation prize and no facsimile. It's a hellaciously fun car in its own right, period. Best of all, since it's relatively cheap, you can beat on it like a rug.

Oh don’t get me wrong, it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! It’s a good buy new, but second hand in the <15k range the driving experience is imo unmatchable. It was the ideal (and smart) purchase for me.

But mid engine driving is such a cool unique thing, and the Cayman fixes the only two thing the BRZ lacks: interior comfort (drove 8.5hrs yesterday. I’m ordering sound deadening tonight 100%. I can’t barely take a phone call at highway speed), and power. Not that the BRZ is underpowered, it’s still a blast, but a bit more grunt would be great for highway cruising. I'm absolutely happy with my current car, but if I had an extra 15-20k to spend, it would have been on a 987.2 Cayman S, hands down.

I got my tS because I wanted a really fun to drive (and track) daily that I could have while saving money up for a house downpayment. My wife and I will probably get the house in the next year, and replace her Q5 with a Macan S, and my car will come after that. Most of the places we're looking at only have two parking spots though, so would a 718 Spyder make a decent daily, or would the 911 be much better (but way more common.) Or would an Audi RS5 be the best of both worlds? I've only driven a 997 turbo, 981 Cayman S, 997 C2S, and my younger brother has a 986 S I've borrowed from time to time, so my Porsche driving experience is pretty limited, and I'd love to hear from the experts.

The new 911 is definitely great looking. And now that the RWD has wider fenders like the AWD the car is perfect.

Looks are subjective. I think the new 911 is a huge step backwards. Larger, heavier, and has a huge fat ass. (and I've always loved 911s [not named 996]).

The back of the Panamera and 911 look almost the same now. I take issue when the back of a sports car can be mistaken for a 4500 lb sedan.

I keep coming back to the BRZ, because there's nothing that can be done beyond a reasonable degree, about weight.

All these new cars are fat and heavy.

Now, the 600LT lust is real. Every time I drive one, it reminds me why I like lightweight cars. And cars that rotate.

The current GT4 is an massive push pig designed to make their owners feel like heros when "driving hard", and I don't expect that to change with the 718 GT4.

I've always liked the spyder for a cruiser though, but wish it had more feel. It's just too refined. Weird complaint, since it's plenty fast, and comfortable. I just want a little *less* comfort in a fairly hardcore car.

If you want less Comfort get a lotus evora 400 heh

The ‘16 GT4 weighs in at 2955 and the 600LT at 2,989.

66lbs isn’t much. A battery and wheels and your decently close for 1/4 price without a carbon tub.

I’d agree the power in the 600 can mask its weight to feel even lighter, but I’d say a gt4 is quite fun to throw around- It rotates well and outperforms it’s HP rating. Much like the BRZ.
