...and the AT vs MT debate has officially begun in this thread
..to throw in my counter, I have had more fun in my MT 86 than when I had my AT one. A total joy to commute in. |

half empty. Boring.
I don't see how a 3L 6cyl turbo, 8spd auto that weighs more by what…300 lbs about , can get better mpg then a 86/BRZ 2L 4cyl. If you have a manual brz/86 , and can shift fast in getting it into 3rd-4th-5th gear, it should get better mpg . Then they say autos now get better mpg then manuals ( I don't totally believe that, since a auto will weigh more to start with). If you know how to shift, and be in the right gear given your speed, a manual should be the better mpg car. Comparing the Supra to a Cayman. Hmmm, I'd rather drop $5k or so more on the right Cayman manual (even used) over a new Supra. In essence I get the whole "covering costs" by Toyota partnering with Subaru / BMW , however much of the engineering is on Subaru / BMW coming up with the engines /tranny . Toyota is designing mainly the exterior (and interior with the FRS/86) , but in my short sighted perspective I could see Toyota's end of the deal as being the "easier" job to do. Thus Toyota wins out, they're doing more with less money(resources ) spent. |
ya the MPG comment had me confused also. In my '13 brz I get 27 with short trips around town and 38-40 on long trips on the highway. The numbers he quoted in the video seemed low for the BRZ/FRS, but maybe those are the latest official MPG #'s?

The new C8 will only be 10-15 K more and I'm thinking many people buying new will go more towards that if they don't need rear seats.

Wow the dude didn't even hit the rev limiter in the 86. total loser.

Yea this guy had a preference for power. They have a hellcat and it’s the best car in the world to them.
He and Paul Gerrard (the track driver, good dude) had my gt4 on their HOT or NOT portion of their channel. This guy never drove it, I don’t think he would of fit in it comfortably. But yes, a bit of the middle aged man review. He did have some trouble during shooting with getting some of the specs right and things about the car (he thought my oil cap and fluid caps were speaker covers). IMO more of a truck channel but they are trying to get more viewers. |

I'm sure its because this thing is cruising at 2000 rpm or less on the freeway when your BRZ is at 3500 RPM on the freeway. You're almost firing the cylinder twice to do the same thing. Plus these cars get terrible gas mileage for a 4 cylinder. My Honda commute car barely gets better gas mileage than my Z06 did cruising. One does like 4000 RPM at 80 and the other is lumbering around at 1800rpm. Granted at full throttle the Vette gets like 5 mpg while the Honda still gets like 25! |

Honestly, if I were going to get a two-seater, I'd get the new Miata. It looks sharp and the money I'd save would buy a lot of go-fast parts. |
