That is a lot of tire you are proposing for a stock car. Personally I think that'd sap a lot of fun out of the driving experience.

I agree with the posts above - drive it first and decide what you don't like about it, set some goals, work on changing those things. Unless you have unlimited monies.

Just trying to get the look/sound right now, power will come later.

Obviously people are mentioning the wheels.... take the advice with grains of salt. It all depends on your goal for performance.

The mods in general are a good progression, but plan your FI method now, since obviously the headers won't work with a turbo kit. Power gains NA are not impressive for the money spent so plan your power mods around your eventual choice in FI.

Will the headers do fine with SC?

Yes. You could also tailor the ACE headers for certain types of SC and where you would want the power band shifted to.

@CSG Mike should be able to answer any question regarding the choice of header.

@Impureclient - not sure why the snarkiness in your earlier quote. I have seen it happen too many times on this forum where people don't plan for their long term goal.

255/35 why? That is WAY too much tire for this car N/A. If you're going for all show no go (and no fun) then this is perfect I guess. But then you mention header and exhaust which means a tune too- so you want show and go? In that case.... too much tire unless you boost it

I want to SC it eventually, went with that size hoping to sort of have the car "grow" into it's grip.

Save yourself $400 in that 255/35 you want and look at the Firehawk Indy 500. I was sliding all over the place with MPSS, they didn't last very long and now I stick to the ground with that Firehawk Indy 500.

Will they still have a good life for DD?

Thank you for the advice sir!

A car with too much grip for its power is boring. A car with too much power for the grip is fun. Also teaches you to drive better.

If you are dead set on changing stuff out of the gate, I'd start with the tune and exhaust. Yeah it's less flashy but you will enjoy driving it more while saving for the next thing. I would definitely be laughing at the car with 255s and a stock exhaust if I saw one, but not the car with the extra umph and sound on stock tires. You will also get more use out of the tires you've already paid for.

1. Until now, what is the most powerful car you've owned or driven regularly?

2. Assuming you own the car outright, aside from the cost of fuel, how much money per year do you expect to spend on it?

3. Do you work on your own stuff?

I run 265 tires and a stock exhaust. And a rather large wing.

@Logikal Reazon the best advice I can give you is to define your end goal, and then figure out how to get there.

Nah, skip planning around FI and plan around the eventual v8 swap or even thinking more into the future plan for selling the 86 and
getting a BMW M2 or a Alfa 4C. Really I'd just save all the hassle and sell the car right now and just get a gently used 488GTB or Porsche GT3.

A gently used 488 and GT3 is a rather large range...

1 . 400hp 2000 Mustang GT

2. 48 month 0% interest, 5k-10k

3. Yes I will do my own work. Learning as I go.

@CSG MikeIs that a square setup or staggered? Also what else do you have done to the car?

Thanks!

I can't say since I'm only like 1.5-2k into these but I only got a little over 8k out of my MPSS. These still look like brand new so I know they'll go much longer than the 8k for sure.
