I have the same issue on both sides

Same here. I replaced my di seals recently and noticed tons of pudding under intake. Both sides have it and my passenger side is worse than the drivers. I'm guessing it's either top of timing cover spraying back or somehow squeezing through the head gasket

Hey guys, sorry it took me months to reply. Simply put, there was no resolution and I lost trust in Subaru to fix it. After go back and forth with them to even recognize the issue, I ended up selling the car back to them.

.....to become someone else's problem when the dealer cleans it up without fixing the actual problem and sells it "as is" at an auction in some other state.

You should post the name and city of this lazy-ass dealer so everyone else here will know to stay away. That's the best revenge you can get.

Hey can’t believe I’m just seeing this thread. I’m sorry your engine + techs did you dirty like that. If it’s the dealership I’m thinking of, they’ve also played games with my car and I as well...

Just a thought has anyone looked into a bad intake gasket or a small crack in the intake maybe why no one can find it because only happens under a load

So this is partially what happened in my case.
The oil leak happens basically while driving around. More so under hard driving, but just as much just casually driving around town. Nothing at idle. I confirmed the leak point by laying a paper towel right over that seam.

But in my case, the oil came directly from the head gasket, not the intake (no oil moving in there as far as I know).

So of the dealers in NorCal, don't count on the one in Livermore, CA for major, major service work. Diablo Subaru was willing enough to take a look, but by that point I was already frustrated.

From the handful of threads on the FA20 motor, there's a good number of motors that maybe had a bad batch of head gaskets is my assessment.
In the end, I went back over to the BMW side. I've got 20+ years of club connections, dealers, and mechanics - so it was an easy decision on the next car. My current ride is a 2015 BMW 435i. No, not the M4, but I'll get more toys later after the kids get out of college. :)

Yep, my oil puddled on the passenger side. When I placed a paper towel over the HG seam, it would be soaked by the time I made it to work, about 4 miles. Car used about 1/2 qt a month or every 200 miles.

Try my experiment, Roll up paper towels and stuff them there. They won't burn or fall out.
