My car only has 24k on it, but the first owner bought it in mid July 2012, which means it's just over 60 months old. Can I still get the TSB done for free?

Also, my cricket sound comes on very rarely... if the tech can't replicate the cricket noise during inspection, will they still replace the pump? Or should i just keep the one i have since it only comes on every so often?

The TSB has a specified build date range of all VINs affected. Im sure your car will fall under that and if you are still under warranty they will fix it for free. Also, im not really sure what kind of warranty you have, but the manufacture warranty is only 3 years or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. Depending on your dealership they might swap the fuel pump even they cant replicate the sound. Also, just drive the car for like 15-20 minutes and the chirping should be there and then take it in.

My fuel pump was swapped out back in July and ive driven a few thousand miles already and i have no crickets.

i believe the powertrain warranty is 5 years or 60k miles... if tht is the case, i'm out of the warranty period... my VIN is affected tho

stop trying to fix a problem that's mostly US/Canada only, maybe ask gas company. XD

Ok i will walk out now, don't slap me. :scared0016:

i have a 2017 brz, purchased March 7, and oh boy does it have crickets

Wow! Looks like a hit or miss with the Oct 2016 revised TSB. Has anyone gotten the March 2017 TSB performed? Looks like it has the same part number though as the Oct 2016 TSB part# SU003-07326.

A few questions. Are the fuel pumps marked with the new part #'s? If so, do the fuel pumps have both the Toyota and Subaru part #'s? It would also be interesting to know what percentage of failures to the survey are Subaru vs Scion since Subaru has not updated their Service Bulletin.

Hi Just wanted to chime in,

Im in CA, and gas stations have possibly switched to winter blends for fuel? (please correct me)

i had the TSB performed on my BRZ around May time frame and usually fill with chevron, or 76 and have no crickets.

recently filled with Shell and crickets have returned....
:(

I’m also in California as well and I switched to Arco, stuck with it and never got the crickets back. Finding the right gas brand seems to be the hassle free method of getting around the “issue”. Don’t think the blend matters. And I can confirm Shell does bring out the chirps.

I had my pump replaced with the new model this past spring, but the crickets just returned. Before the pump was replaced I had become used to the crickets and didn't really mind it so much, but driving without them for the past several months has been nice and now that it's back I find the sound very annoying.

I have a 13 FRS and since using 93 Esso which is now ethanol free, I don't get any crickets at all

I was talking to a guy with a 17 BRZ with 10k km and he has crickets

It's odd, i can go months without crickets then it'll show up all of a sudden. Must be different formulations of gasoline though im in CA and can't imagine it changes that much throughout the seasons. i almost always fill up at the shell station (91 octane) near my house.

How you get 93 Esso no ethanol? All station states up to 10% at the pump

Just checking in for 1 year of TSB fix and still no crickets. Since I had the fix, I've only used Chevron 93 and nothing else.
