It *could* be sold as a Toyota, Subaru, AND a Scion. But I pretty much agree with White Comet.

I'd remove the ugly chromed plastic badges on the first day just like most of you would. I might swap the caps on the wheels to SAAB, though...just to mess with people.

Why does Toyota have such an ugly logo? Ovals are almost always a bad idea. Especially on a car. Cars always have circular wheels. Cars rarely have ovals anywhere...and when they do...you end up with Ford Taurus rear windows or Dodge Neon headlights. Toyota didn't even make an aerodynamic looking oval like Ford. They made a big, fat one. Wrong. Wrong Wrong.

I like the old school ALL CAPS "TOYOTA" logo. The FT-86 should have these letters in the grill, not a chromed plastic upside-down cowboy hat on the hood.

It's bizarre, the way Toyota seems determined to expand the Scion brand (the introduction of 3 Scion models in Canada in 2010 for example).

I can't believe they intend the FT-86 as a replacement for the tC however, given the investments they have made in the customization campaign for it. Also the fact that they rely so heavily on cross-platform compatibility (same engine in xA/xB and Yaris for example) to achieve greater economy of scale in production. But, they do aim Scion at the youth market... do they see the 86 as appropriate for this segment, or more upscale/boutique? :iono:

As others have said, the correct answer is "who gives a sh*t" as those emblems are coming off day 1 :bellyroll: the only question is what to rebadge with

this should be the sole reason it will never be named under Scion:

I'm not a big fan of companies like Saturn and Scion that do the no haggle pricing thing. It seems like you end up paying way more for the car than you should. I guess it's great for lazy people who don't want to do the research to find out about the invoice pricing, what the dealer is paying for the car, and then negotiate a reasonable purchase price which is generally a lot lower than MSRP but still allows the dealership to make a profit. Being happy that a dealer has a system that forces you to pay MSRP is like thanking the guy that just raped you.

Got any places to go to look up invoice pricing? That seems like information that would be pretty hard to come by.

I had no idea that Scion does the no haggle pricing thing either. But I totally agree with your post. I've got friends who don't even buy their cars until they get invoice pricing and then they just haggle up from the invoice pricing. That knowledge is so powerful and helpful in paying as little as possible.
