Rust! On a brand new car? Scratch marks they could fix, but rust is just unacceptable. I guess it really depends how bad it is, and where else it is. Ask if they at least try and drive it every so often. If the battery is dead I would walk. A car sitting for 2 years is a nightmare waiting to happen.

There are some crazy deals on 2016 autos already.

Exactly where is the rust? My 14 has 50k miles and has been driven through a Canadian winter and other than the exhaust clamps and bolts there is not a speck of rust to be found. Just sitting will not make a car rust any faster than being driven. He'll even when driven they still sit 95% of the time ( some even more).

Nah...wasn't trying to be sarcastic. My car was around 25.7k, otd 27k+. I would definitely inspect it carefully. I would even ask for them to put it on a lift to inspect the undercariage for damage like the boots and etc.

Nothing to worry about with any of that. The exhaust and fittings are what would be expected for a two year old car whether it sat or was driven. The suspension is just surface and will disappear after a few miles and come back if it sits for a week or so. Perfectly normal. I would just make sure that fixing the scratches is part of the sales agreement.
Again no mystery why they have discounted it. It is 2 model years out and not a "popular" colour. They just want rid of it without taking to much of a beating. They have bills to pay.

Really? Guess your location has better drivers. Or they haven't told you about the premium hike a month ago. There was a thread about it.

Is that rust from the salt on the road when it snows? I live in the South now so I don't have to worry about that anymore, pheeewww

The premium hikes were across the board for Geico and some other companies they were not restricted to just the Twins. There was a whole article linked in the thread you referenced.
Rates will vary for different people even between cars so it really doesn't matter what one person pays and comparing is senseless.

I just picked up a new 2014 BRZ Limited and its an Auto for $23895 but it turned to be $26113 after all the taxes and DMV fees. Hopefully all goes well and ready for me to pickup.

the minor scratch and rust will be taken care of by the service guys.

Congrats Iwant! Now enjoy it as is for a while and decide what you may want to change down the road. And don't listen to the "needs more power bro" crowd at school they are talking out of their asses.

Thanks sir!

I emailed customer service just to verify the mileage and they emailed back,

"This vehicle was purchased originally on 2/6/15 and has a prior owner. As for the vehicle condition, you would need to speak to the dealership regarding that detail."

I called the dealership and they said its never been registered. It could had been a buyer that backed out on the deal.

No wonder why there was rust on the bottom and also dirt on the rear trunk hinges with 33 miles.

I left a deposit also and was suppose to pick it up tomorrow.

iwantafrs 09-28-2015 03:24 PM

The dealer said the owner backed down on the deal or something. It's not used..

You may want to check on that. Even if it hasn't been registered, the manufacturer's warranties may start counting down from that first transaction date.
