the DRL and high beam bulb shares the same bulb, so when you replace the bulb with a LED bulb, you will lose the high beam function. The LED simply won't be bright enough.

If you're okay with losing the high beams, then you can consider putting in an LED bulb for the DRL. If you're not comfortable with them, the other alternative would be to replace the bulb with an aftermarket "pure white" halogen bulb.

I like to purchase quality brands like PIAA or Raybrig from a trusted vendor, there are too many fake bulbs out there that are just stock bulb with a blue coating to make them appear white (these will burn out prematurely from excessive heat).

Real PIAA and Raybrig bulbs usually range from $40-70/pair depending on the model

Just ordered package 2 with the license plate lights! Looking forward to installing it!

Assistance please...I've got all my LEDs working except the passenger door light. I swapped it with the driver's door and it's not the light, it's the socket. So, when I removed the light originally I didn't disconnect the wires and think I shorted it out as I popped the bulb out with a driver. I know, bad move. Is there a dedicated fuse for this socket? the other door still lights along with the overhead light. I've unplugged and re-plugged the regular bulbs and they don't work either. Anyone know what I'm missing, or what I've messed up? When it gets daylight again, I'll take a volt meter to it.

On another note, the lights look great! My wife's really impressed with the look on "her" car.

the first thing i would do is double check with a volt meter to make sure you're getting power to that wire harness, if not, then i would check the underdash fuse

T10 5smd 5050 is a perfect fit, some people decide to leave the housing cover off for more brightness.

Obja 09-17-2012 01:52 AM

has anyone thought of making the rear license playe lights dimmer?!
is there a light you can buy that's dimmer than stock?

I only got your PM today, and I have already responded.

speedracer38 09-26-2012 05:53 PM

I installed all the lights into my car and it's a much nicer feel at night time with the bright LED lights. The only thing is, to me at least, the LED reverse lights don't seem that bright for me. In the pictures they look a lot brighter then they feel for me so at night it's a bit hard to see where I'm going in reverse. Anyone else feel the same?

Got the email - Thanks! Can't wait :happyanim:

Phaedrus29 09-29-2012 05:46 AM

Posted this in the other Automation thread but might be useful to others: At first, I couldn't get the lights to work in the trunk. I thought I might have had defective leds, but then I tried spreading out the contacts/wires on the leds so they are a bit farther from each other. That worked!

I don't know if this is normal, but it looks like the contacts in the socket are farther apart than the wires on the leds.

How does the dome light handle the dimming effect on the BRZ? I've seen some cheaper LED kits in my day and they do a little strobe until they run out of voltage, which might be kind of annoying.

Do these manage to do like a tiered dim or do they just do a quick cut off.. or are they also affected by the strobe-to-off transition?

I changed my oem bulb to an LED set also, so far there's no strobing effect. Same dimming effect with the halogen bulb.

noc 11-25-2012 10:57 AM

I'm sure this has been said before, but pictures don't do it any justice!! I installed the entire kit on my BRZ and they look great :D

Reverse LED's were a pain to install, but I shone a light on the connector and you can see the arrow pointing in the direction for "lock." just twist in the opposite direction and you can easily pull out the bulb. Just be careful of scratching your arm up. I laid a towel down and got on my back to do this; I'm a skinny guy and I still got some scrapes on my forearm.

merry christmas!

rbizzle004 01-10-2013 12:45 AM

Just received and installed my lights today. Stage 2 Dome Light, Reverse Lights, Trunk light and doors lights. Was rather quick and painless. Hardest being the reverse lights. But everything looks great. I think I will have to order the license plate lights here soon.

jjdrivesajazz 01-11-2013 02:34 AM

thanks!

Did you figure out what went wrong and how to fix this? I just had the same thing happen to me!

Inzandity 03-11-2013 03:11 PM

I actually got pulled over last night for the LED license plate lights. Cop said it looked "too blue" against my WRB BRZ. I think it was just a sorry excuse to pull me over.

Bought the LED kit and I have to say that it really makes the car look great, but when I stood outside to look at the car I noticed the license plate lights flickering. 1 led per light went out and it makes the lighting uneven and funny going down the street flickering. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Anybody had any issues with the order w/ automationled? I put in an order more than a week ago and haven't heard back since.

Sent 2 follow-up emails, no replies either.

I filed a dispute with paypal. If the seller doesn't respond by a certain date, paypal will step in I think.

I'd recommend diodedynamics. Superfast shipping.
