i think this is meant to be a joke, not a hoax. see where it talks about the rear seats being spacious and luxurious? blatant effort to say "see, we are kidding."

Even Subaru does not have an engine with those specs in any of their vehicles at this time..

I am surprised they did not claim AWD :)

Wut? Are you dumb? It's called a 2015 STI...

Toyota 86 Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada Q&A - YouTube

Ya, the whole thing is riddled with "I will try", "I would like too" and other such non committal statements.

@Tcoat from his video, all the talk about the '86 getting canceled becomes moot.

If I ever gave the impression that I thought it was going to be cancelled I apologise. Any debates I have had or BS info I cited were simply to make the case that unofficial statements are meaningless. In fact my whole point through those debates was that that we really just can't believe any of these stupid blog sites whether they say "yaaaa turbo next year" or "ohhh they lost so much money they are dropping it".
Again, even Tatda in the video doesn't say much more than "I would like" and "please wait".

Keep in mind if it weren't for Akio Toyoda (that's a D not a T) there's be no FT86. He's an avid racer and while taking the helm at Toyota asked where's the passion and excitement?! Luckily for us he thought the Sienna project leader was a good fit for the new sports car. The rest is history.

Tada San wanted to have small enhancements every year. Then they received reactions and complains from the customers. Truth is that customers don't like this. One reason might be that they don't want their cars to depreciate so fast. Other reason is that they don't want to worry of installing the new enhancements.

Time will tell.... the twins may:

a. be the low volume niche car that lasts a hundred years... like the Z, Miata, and Corvette

or

b. be killed off due to sales.

There should be a continuous clip playing next to every twin on sale with Tada explaining what this car is/isn't. Should cut down on the FI and more power whine.

c. Keep having performance watered down and the rest blinged up in an effort to appeal to a wider customer base until there is little left of the original car.

Oh you mean like the Z and Miata?

That's still option A.

Edit: Civic Si applies as well, maybe Mustang and Corvette, depends on your opinion of those cars.

(I'm sorry Mazda I love you and the NC)

You know how the US Patent Office doesn't allow people to file perpetual-energy machines? FT86Club should create a "no threads about OEM turbo rumors" rule.

-This same rumor comes up every year and not a single one has ever been correct. Back in 2013, people said "there will definitely be a turbo version in 2014!" and there never was.
-Toyota and Subaru have both come out and officially said they would not add FI to this car.
-A turbo would increase the price to be higher than what their target audience is willing to pay.
-More horsepower and higher cost would make this a direct competitor to many much nicer cars, like the STI and 370z.

Posting a thread like this should be an automatic IP ban.
