I just knew what your stand would be and in no way was it a criticism! Here is a happy cat to make you feel better! https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...f62e02c46b.jpg |
Debadge the front completely. And in the rear, to the left of the license plate frame have the "subaru"... Up top put the scion emblem back on, and on the right of the plate I'll just leave my GT86 badge. Or just custom make a single on to put Where the gt86 is.. "FRGT86RZ" or "lolconfused"

Being a huge fan of Toyota and coming from a family that has owned Tundras, 4Runners, Solaras (:barf:) and a few Lexus SUVs, I wanted to stick with the brand when looking for a cool commuter car. I HATED the fact that the car came with the Scion name. I don't consider myself part of their target demographic at all, but I still really wanted a fun-to-drive, sexy-as-hell sports car from Toyota to get me to and from work with decent MPG's so I bit the bullet, bought the FRS and popped off those Scion badges as soon as humanly possible (except for that pesky boot image splash screen on the HU). I cringe every time I drive next to an xB because I know that's the car most people think of when they hear the name Scion and I feel like the FRS loses some credibility in people's minds right off the bat because of it. When I think of Toyota sports cars, I think of Supras, Celicas... cool cars with a proud history. When I think of Scion, I think of the xB and tC... slightly girly cars that will let you customize what color underglow you want. As my uninformed buddy once told me when seeing my car for the first time, "I looked into getting one of these when I was looking for a new car, but I couldn't ever find the Toyota version, only the Scion." I know that the only thing that makes my Toyobaru a Scion are the badges so I got rid of them. I'm more proud of the fact that its heritage is part Toyota, so those are the badges that I choose to display. At the end of the day, it doesn't come down to insecurity, just personal preference. |
It's a Toyota. Or a Subaru.
"Scion" to me is nothing but an ill-conceived and slowly dying marketing failure by Toyota. |
Looks soooo much better imo
haters gunna hate but cowboy hat > something that looks like what a bro would tattoo on themselves http://i.imgur.com/qoN609d.jpg |

I don't mind the Scion badges ( I think they look much better than the Toyota sombrero)
I hate what Scion represents and the name is LAME FR hyphen S GT 86 was taken by the rest of the world. So how about FT86? That's what I'd call it. Mine is Firestorm Red so Fuc*n Red - Sports car. will have to do. |

All the BRZ owners are going to come piling in here to either a) try and swing at why they're superior or b) laugh at those who take the 5 minutes to get their see-yoon badge off and heat-gun on some cowboy hats.

I'm looking into rebadging to the Japanese 'Toyota' logo for my emblem, but I chose Scion first was because it didn't match any other Scions out there. Every time I see a Scion 'this or that', I chuckle to myself because of the drastic difference the FR-S brings to the Scion community. Mostly it sticks out like a sore thumb, a smexy sore thumb.

Well, I think a huge portion of the Aussie>Subaru misassociation is because of their outback line and how they focused a bit of their marketing efforts on being 'out there' in the bush. But the truth of it is that Subaru and its logo has connotations of unity- the stars signify FHI's 'constellation' connection with its different parts... similar to how the toyota cowboy hat signifies unity and intersecting circles between the company (inner circle), the community it serves (middle circle), and the world at large (the largest circle) Excerpt from a Subaru dealership site Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster, which in turn inspires the Subaru logo and alludes to the six companies that merged to create FHI. The word "subaru" means "united" in Japanese, and Fuji Heavy Industries has used the term to describe how the Pleiades constellation is a unification of the stars. Fuji Heavy Industries is therefore a constellation of companies united together. |

Don't hand the BRZ guys their argument on a silver platter. You just managed to wipe out my whole preemptive strike in one post! |
In N.A. the car is a Scion, end of story.
I didn't rebadge because as @danthedirt once said about it, if you get lemons, make lemonade. The problems with the moniker and the need for brand association all come from inside oneself. I reasoned it is better to just deal with that. Maybe I can play a very minor part of the re-building of the Scion make into something positive. The car is tits, no doubt about that. Really though, it's not like "Toyota" or "Subaru" excite people anyhow. |

so much bristling opinions about a 15-minute cosmetic mod..
you tribal tattoo scion badgers can keep it, I'll keep my cowboy hat. At the end of the day we're all FHI-made toyobaruions |

Never seen the good old badge wars (be carful how you pronounce that or it takes on a whole new meaning) degenerate into a stance slap fight before! |
If I were to rebadge I'd go hit up a junkyard for the spelled-out "TOYOTA" badges like my Corolla used to have. I've never really liked the bean-with-a-hat thing. Either that or just get the front shaved right and go with no badges, it's not like anybody recognizes it now anyway even with the name all over it.
I'm not really embarrassed about the Scion thing anyway, Aasbo and Gushi have been making us look pretty good in the pro motorsports world and I've never gotten grief for it outside of car forums. |
