OldSkoolToys 12-02-2009 03:15 PM

It'd be sick if Amuse made parts for this. I can just imagine an Amuse WB for the FT. :eyebulge::eyebulge:

Amuse is the shit, but I'd be more personally interested in Mines and Spirits.

Just WTF on that R34, thats insane. And it was all done by focusing mainly on engine response? FFuuuuuuuuuu.

And then obviously Spirits because, unfortunately for AE86 fans everywhere, they are the current Touge 200 class champs with their MR-S.

nismo300zr2 12-02-2009 06:10 PM

NIIIIIIIIIIIICEEE isnt that fuji speedway in the dash? A built in LAP TIMER?!?! hell yeah.

chances of that making it to production?

About as good as my chances of marrying Heidi Klum.

trueno 12-03-2009 06:10 AM

Lol, I love Tsuchiya's response at 5:56. Shxxxxxt! :bellyroll::bellyroll: Even from that video, you can see that the damn thing is too quick. Hopefully Mines pours some R & D into the 86. Whoever I start with, I want to carry that theme throughout the car. Just have to wait and see. If I had the coin, I'd love to have an Amuse(d) S2000 with an Amuse(d) FT.

FormulaJDM 12-03-2009 06:07 PM

I assumed so, but maybe not. Its not mentioned here.

http://www.laautoshow.com/Debuts.aspx

Anyway, i'm going to see everything and at least the Lexus LF_Ch will be there.

IBCoupe 12-05-2009 11:49 PM

That looks like a museum I'd like to visit.

OldSkoolToys 12-06-2009 01:10 AM

Thats pretty nice....

It'd be neater if they could show off Tsuchiya's Freshman Series AE86 from the early 80's.

trueno 12-06-2009 05:55 AM

dam some times i think toyota should just start remaking the AE86 again! just up grade the inside of the car. that panda trueno look good already!

S2KtoFT86 12-06-2009 11:53 AM

Dang, I feel another future FT visit. That museum along with the Toyota Sports Festival. Awesome!!

4agze 12-06-2009 06:43 PM

the only things i can see getting changed from concept to production would be the seats, because they don't look like they meet saftey standards and putting high beams and turn signals in the headlight. the rear diffuser looks like it would work in the real world but i could see toyota having that as an option to get some extra money outta us or at least the cf one

I dont think they'll have a leather zippered dash either though. Nor will the A-pillar be see-through like that, unfortunately.

Franisco 12-30-2009 11:49 PM

The entire interior won't stick. But I'd like to get those windowed pillars; something different...

Matador 12-31-2009 12:28 AM

Take out the Zippers, Seats, some of the fancy details on the dash and the interior is perfect for me.

Minimalist, straight lotus style.

Franisco 12-31-2009 03:00 AM

I really don't understand how they can even market this as a 2+2. It's within 2 inches of an S2000, which is a two seater.(Yes, I know it has a longer hood) I think it looks like it sits on its wheels like a 2G DSM, and yet its almost 10 inches shorter. Its great that the whole 2+2 idea will lower insurance rates, but how much room will there even be back there?

Barely enough? I've owned 2 Toyota 2+2's (AE86 and MK3 Supra) and basically, you CAN fit back there, but its not gonna be comfortable.

I'm perfectly fine with the 2+2 layout though. Doesn't have to be a strict 2 seater. Infact, I prefer it 2+2.

whaap 12-31-2009 09:24 AM

The 2+2 doesn't bother me. It never seemed to be a problem for the 911.

Franisco 12-31-2009 02:49 PM

I can see headroom being alright in the supra and the 86 because of the rear window shapes, but was there any legroom to speak of?

Lotus Elise like car and approach for the FT-86 would be my absolute dream. :eyebulge: But a dream it will remain as this car will need to have more creature comforts than an Elise in order to appeal to more and sell more units.

Wait-you want to see a FT-86 putting down (let's say after the aftermarket gets finished) maybe 300-350 HP go up against a GT-R putting down 800+HP (Hennessey has done it already)? You'd get creamed. Doesn't matter how nice the car looks, you've got to find some semblance of reality. This car's competitors are going to be the 370Z, the Genesis coupe, the G37, the M3, the Eclipse, the Mustang, the Camaro, and the Challenger-not a car coming stock at 4x its price.

800hp machine on the hot version touge is totally safe.....

FYI, that 800hp looses much of its value after 400hp on a road like that.

Because the guy you just tried to correct, was referring to the touge. Look a littttlleee bit more closely at his post.

I'll cede that at Touge, HP is not necessarily the most important aspect. However, even there, the straightaways will greatly benefit the GT-R. Also, the much greater design effort into GTR drivetrain will benefit it-there's only so much effort you can put into say suspension on a car designed to be under 30 grand, especially compared to what they've done with the Nissan.

Don't think he was talking about going stock for stock either...

Its hard to say really, the FT-86 is still in concept form. The GT-R would have the straights for sure but it'll be interesting to see how the 'low center of gravity' that Tada keeps clamoring about will perform on such a road. 300hp might be all it needs to keep ahead.

:iono:

Just like trueno, I'm eagerly awaiting such videos. It'll be interesting to see what cars they put it up against.

Aircooled 01-08-2010 11:58 PM

This thread is funny as hell. You guys are arguing if a CONCEPT CAR that is hoping to be around 20k will be able to hang with or beat a poor mans super car that runs around 90-100k. I'm sure given their intentions it will probably be a fun little car, stock for stock, I doubt it will even be able to keep up with an S2000 in any of those areas, let alone a GTR. Modified however, ehhh I'm guessing it's going to be the same thing. By all means I'd love to see this car go far above and beyond expectations, but it's only speculation at this point. So as it sits, we've got nothing to argue about.

Axel 01-11-2010 08:07 PM

I wouldn't mind if the car retained these seats... I might even get one for my john!

I can't wait to see some new pics of the FT. I hope we get a bunch this weekend from the Tokyo Auto Salon. I went there in 1999 and hope to go again next year.

Axel 01-11-2010 10:34 PM

This pic shows more of the concepts Klingon Warbird dash :) and all those vent cubby hole thingies would be great for the local drug deliveryman to store his reefer bags!

Just one correction, there's no Kei Office anymore. DoriKin sold it to ORC in '05.

Also I don't think, Amuse or Mine's haven't done Boxer engine tuning recently. Mine's make ECU for it, but I haven't seen really tune Amuse or Mine's STI. JUN's yellow STI was crazy tuned, same with MCR, HKS and of course CUSCO too... but of course that doesn't mean they're not going to. I'm pretty sure they're going to.

I can't wait to see is Tomei's FT-86. They have been tuning Boxer engine like crazy, so I know what they're doing (that's been proven by Tarzan Yamada & STI). Also another dark horse is EXIT. They make nice N1 boxer engine too (same goes with CRUISE).

Axel 01-12-2010 08:29 PM

a view many cars will primarily see of the FT-86 :)
