Somebody with an OFT just needs to check parasitic draw with it plugged in. Take your multimeter, put one end on the negative battery post and one on the negative battery terminal and lift the terminal off, keeping the 2 meter ends on their respective spots. Obviously make sure the car is locked and has been so for more than a few minutes. The draw should be less than 40-50mA.

Kept oft plugged in the last 2 weeks. Went to start the car after 48 hours and dead battery. :(
The screen dimming mode is deceiving. Unplug your oft. |
Where are you / what you using to mount the OFT that makes it convenient for you to just leave it in? haha
It ends up sititng in my lap or in my wife's hands while I drive |
I have mine suction mounted near the a-pillar just above the dash with a cell phone holder I modified. I plug mine up prior to first start in the morning and it stays plugged in until I am done driving for the day. I just unplug and stow until morning. Takes no time to plug it in and hang it.

i noticed if i keep it plugged in and turn the car off wtihout interacting with it, it'll go to the blank (but still backlit) screen. however if i use it a bit after teh car has turned off, it won't go back to the blank screen on its own, at least not after two hours.

Hopefully an update in the future will implement an "auto power off" feature, if the device remains inactive after "X" amount of time it'll power down.
Similar to that of a GPS. |
